I also want the FDE 9 but with talk of changes coming to the shield and Bodyguard line under S&W M&P 2.0 program i will have to wait and see how much better or worse the changes will be.....

Sorry about this. I did a search for the Bodyguard and this post popped up.

Kindly disregard my stupidity!

Yeah..me to...but with talk of a upgrade to the shield model which could include a grip texture change and possible trigger change i have to force myself to wait which is difficult for me to do as i really do like the FDE.

If i get it now and they do make those changes which I want then woe is me..so wait and hope .... It just ain't right to put me through this...

I like that, a lot. Congrats. An OD would look nice as well.

First off, very nice. If they come out with a grey framed Shield I will be all over it.

Second, if S&W just came out with an FDE Shield you can rest assured they will not be putting out the yet-to-be-confirmed Shield M2.0 until they reach a certain sales quote or sales of the Shield M1.0 begin to diminish. I haven't even seen a PC Shield with no manual safety yet, so I think it is going to be awhile.

I feel rather secure in saying (based on previous history) the new Bodyguard will be announced at the 2018 Shot Show in January with product availability sometime in July or August and the Shield will be announced sometime after that. But then again....What do I know?

Just my observation but I think the 1.0 shield still has a lot of life left in it before its replaced with the 2.0.

But to contradict my statement I think the 2.0 shield is already here in the form of the 45.

Yes indeed as far as the grip texture goes but grapevine has it there are other changes planned for the shield....(rails, trigger upgrade, and from S&W with laser but no one knows for sure at this point)...worth waiting for for me

Is this a cerokoted frame? Or is the polymer molded in this color? Reason I ask is S&W only shows the Shield 9 FDE on the website configured with the manual safety. Was wondering if someone just coated a black frame for resale. I know the factory ones are actually molded FDE polymer, not a finish.

Thanks,

I have to admit, I DON'T like it. Only because they didn't finish it. What's with the black slide, mag spacer and base pad. Accept mediocrity and that's all you deserve.

I like the contrast with colored frames with black slides and controls.
While it may not be everyones taste, I doubt mediocre is what H&K, CZ, FN, and Springfield would call their offerings.
YMMV.

I had the full FDE version of the P320. I ended up trading the "FDE" slide for black slide. Looks much better.
