Default Just came back from the range and someone there had a PC shield .45

holy cow that thing was fun to shoot, he had talon rubber grips on it and I must say, I am definitely tempted to grab one of these.
It had a ported barrel and factory installed Hi Viz sights on it, really nice non mass trigger.
I am surprised , even shooting Federal HST JHP through it , the kick was not that much more than my shield 9.
Now I've got to figure out a way to get the Mrs. to ok another gun in the house LOL!

Never had the experience shooting a Shield .45 but the .45 are known to be the smoothest firearms out there. Just try a 1911 .45 you will understand. You should handle MPC .45 sometime.

Don't hesitate and get it. It's just one fine shooting gun. You will thoroughly enjoy it. I sold my Shield 9 and Glock 36 when I got it. No need to keep the Shield 9 in the same size & capacity as the Shield 45 and the G36 didn't stand up to the Shield 45. If that makes sense.

I don't know how this guy got his hands on this one , they are not Mass approved yet (the PC ones), he wouldn't tell me where he got it from, (he's not LE).
My current .45 is a Springfield XDM 3.8C, I love that thing (10 rounds with the pearce, 9 without), it's about the same size as my M&P 9C, but this Shield................ it's quite a bit smaller, I would probably ditch the XDM if I got one of these and just get a FS range gun (VP9 or G17).
I've got the magGuts +2 kit in 2 of my 8 round shield mags so I actually carry a 10 round shield 9 with 10 on the belt.. I would probably hold on to that one just in case my wife wants to carry it.

Isn't the Shield 9mm +1 capacity compared to the Shield .45?

Birthday Present , Christmas Present ....might try Anniversary ( Don't buy one and give it to her , wives funny about those kinds of gifts) just be real good and leave Santa lots of hints.
Every shooter should have at least one 45 acp.

For us Shield 45 owners it makes perfect sense. Sold my Glock 26.

Ammo selection becomes an issue with this gun. If you are content with FMJ performance, then no worries. It has a storied history in several wars.

If you want to take advantage of modern technology? I'd want to see more velocity data with this PC version. With most factory loads, the 45 is more subjected to barrel length than some other calibers. A 5" tube is the standard. In a 3.3 inch barrel, fewer loads will expand at all. Porting further robs velocity. Not by a huge margin. But enough, IMO, that ammo selection would become a true issue if expansion is the goal.

I had a brief outing with the standard Shield in 45 ACP. I really liked it and didn't have a problem with recoil.
