Default M&P Performance Ported Question

Anyone have a Performance ported 9L? I like the idea of the 5" barrel for range shooting. My gunsmith tells me the ported barrel and slide will reduce the muzzle flip but I'm wondering if you guys think the gun is worth purchasing at $650. SKU is 10218. Is it worth $200 more than an M&P9?

My standard length M&P9 doe not seem to plagued with muzzle flip. For range use I would think that porting is not that important in this case.

AL,

Yes, I have both the CORE ported PC 9L and the PC 9L. My personal opinion there is some minor benefit, but not a significant amount. I have video shooting each and from the side view of each shooting the same warm 9mm load you can not tell the difference. Looks about the same and you are hard pressed to tell any different. The porting is not the same as running the comp on my CZ when the comp is working with full power loads there is near nothing.

I run the PC 9L in Production division, the PC CORE 9L ported in Carry Optics division, and my CZ in Open Division.

Good luck

I have one in 9 and 40. I can't say the the porting makes a noticeable difference on the 9, but it does on the 40.

I did some quick and informal testing with a ported and unported barrel a while ago. By feel the reduction in muzzle flip is mild. In two-handed shooting against a plate rack I was 0.25-0.5 seconds faster.

For competition they are great. As a defence gun no way. Muzzle flash directly in your line of sight....

My son just recently purchased one of those package deals. It came with two barrels, one stainless and one threaded for suppressor. I had the privilege of popping off several mags and must say that I fell in love with that gun. It will be my next gun purchase. I'm not a competition shooter by no means. But can say that my follow up on target hits increased pretty well over my M&P 9 full size. I can't wait to get the gun and let it bark thru a few hundred rounds. Jmo.
