Default M&P 40 core ported

I Just bought a core to shoot steel matches witch is new to me after my first 30 rounds the front sight was black and the white dot was covered . I would like to stay with iron sights for now even though seeing the sights is getting harder with old eyes . Is there a fiber post that I could replace the stock front sight with would it help . The rear sight does not adjust so it would have to be the same height to the dot Thanks Rick

I replaced my 9 CORE front sight with a Dawson FO, they offer various hights and widths. Big improvement for me.

My PC Shield 9 gets a bit dirty up front with its ported barrel though so far a range trip (100-150 rounds usually) hasn't blackened out the fiber optic sights that came on it. Not sure if the fo sights help over having stock iron in that situation or not.
That said, i keep a couple q-tips in my bag so i can wipe it off if need be..

The ports will not blow out the fiber optic. They are behind the front sight and angled away.
