Question Lasermax for the Shield?

Greetings everyone,

Anyone have experience with LaserMax CF-SHIELD Centerfire Lasers for your Shield? -

I just bought a vedder holster, which I love, but of course it won't fit if I put this laser, or any laser on it. I talked to vedder and they will let me exchange my holster for one that will fit with this laser. Which is great!

Anyway, the reviews on amazon are mostly positive, but I'm curious what the masses here feel about this one, or any similar alternatives that may be a better option.

Thanks so much all!

Lasermax seem fine, but if you can, try to get a Crimson Trace ones, they are only a tad more expensive, and they turn on when you grip the pistol

Thank you for the insight. I did check out Crimson Trace but I have found them to be out of my price range. I can get the Lasermax for about 80 bucks, which I think should do me fine. I've been doing research on both, and I know the Crimson Trace is top flight in terms of quality, but for a budget minded soul like myself, having the ability to get a quality laser site at a decent price is ideal.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Yeah I just ordered it, so I'm excited to see how it works out. I'll watch some more youtube vids on it in the mean time.

Only downside is the holster exchange from vedder won't be here until later next week, LOL....so I'll have to wait to put it on until I get the holster. Grateful though, they offered to exchange for the new one, no questions asked.

I had one, but almost never used it except when I was trying to train myself to use it. It wasn't intuitive, and just seemed to complicate things for me. The activation wasn't bad but obviously added another step, and occasionally it would turn on or off during strings of fire. Not often but it did happen, mostly I think b/c I activated it with my support hand thumb during recoil.

My biggest problem with lasers is that they change your focal point. It either needs to be the target/laser sight or the front sight. And should be the same every time. When I had good front sight focus I never saw the laser. In sunlight or at distance it could be very hard to see the laser on anything other than a light target. Since SD is a main reason I carry a pistol, I don't want to have to search for the sight. I even tried out the bright green lasers from CT and it's better but still gets lost in clothing, sunlight etc

I strongly believe in consistency of action and training. So looking for the laser in some instances and the sights in others just doesn't make sense to me. After a reasonable time playing with different systems I don't use a laser anymore, and the only ones I'd recommend are CT types with an intuitive activation. Anyone want a deal on a used streamlight, lol...

I appreciate the insight very much. I was tossing the idea around in my head for awhile before deciding to go for the laser option. It actually arrives today. I see your point, and I realize there are pros and cons to lasers.

I've got an SD9VE, bone stock, and I'm going to practice with both once I get the laser on the shield and see how the differences are at the range going from a laser to one without.
