From the S&W Pro CORE website, found with a Google search:

Features
• Slide cut to accept the following optics: Trijicon RMR, Leupold Delta Point, Jpoint, Doctor, C-More STS, and Insight MRDS (optics not included)

Because the CORE comes with taller co-witness sights, one could assume all these sights will co-witness. However, when adding the mounting plate to fit the generic slide slot, and given that each sight has a different height, ideal co-witness of 20-25% intrusion into the bottom of the window may not be achieved. Too low a co-witness makes the irons slow and difficult to use. Too high and it blocks more of the screen than desired.

With the generic CORE cut and a mounting plate, I don't think any of these sights will sit so low as to make the irons too high. Best co-witness will be with the shortest height sight, but that may not be the best quality sight.

Note that the DeltaPoint Pro is not included.

The Trij RMR is the best of the lot, IMO. It will give you about a 20% co-witness.

I don't know from first hand experience, but I have been pursuing the same question for my CORE. Looks like Vortex Viper a good co-witness, but I am really curious about a relatively new product by a company called Shield from Great Britain they call the RMS.

I have a Shield RMS 4 MoA Red Dot Sight on my S&W Shield. It has a small footprint, length and width, so it is one of the few RDS that will fit smaller guns. It is also not very tall. By slightly deepening and opening up the rear sighting slot in the Shield RMS, standard height Heine Straight Eight night sights co-witness exactly right. Because the sight is smaller, the window is also.

Using this Shield RDS on a Full Size CORE with the taller OEM sights would likely make the iron sights intrude over 30% into the bottom of the window because the sight sits low. This is one sight (The similar J-Point also) that might be too short to co-witness properly, but I don't know how much the CORE mounting plate might elevate the RDS.

Someone else may need to chime in.

The RMS is more robust than the less expensive J-Point, I believe. Its a pretty good value, IMO, but it may not be the best for a CORE.

The best red dot for the core is one that isn't made anymore. I have a Deltapoint (not pro) with over 100K rounds through the pistol it's mounted to, never a problem, change the battery every 6 months whether it's needed or not, and that was when I was shooting it 4-5 times a week. The co-witness was perfect, to zero the sight, I just adjusted the dot to match the proper iron sight picture. I think Leupold really screwed up when the made the Pro and it wouldn't fit the Core. That pistol is retired to range duty for my wife and I've moved on to a 2011 platform with a C-more sight, a whole different game. If you can find a used Deltapoint (or better yet a new one sitting on the shelf at a gun store) buy it and never regret the choice.

CB3: Great reply-thanks. On my CORE I actually now have standard height Dawson Precision sights, not the OEMs. I was wondering if either the Jpoint or Shield red dot would allow me to see the lower height sights, even if I could not cowitness.

I don't have a CORE, and I don't know how much the J-Point mounting plate (which you would use for the Shield RMS) would raise it up, but with standard height sights, the Shield is probably your only option.

You could email Shield and they might answer your question directly.

Opted for the Vortex Viper....for my intended use (USPSA) on a CORE, it seems the best set of compromises...and I have to say, that Vortex warranty is a clincher. I'll reinstall my OEMs if I decide cowitness is critical. As always appreciate the good advice found on this forum.
