Default Second (unneeded) Shield coming tomorrow!

Well, I've carried a Shield 9 for about 2 years and love everything about it, although I did put in the APEX sear to smooth things out some in the trigger and add aftermarket night sights.

Thanks to the forum, and the S&W rebate, a Shield 45 is on the way and will be at my LGS tomorrow...No thumb safety, but included factory night sights this time. Check back later tomorrow to see my review and range report (assuming no thunderstorms). I expect both to be positive, since I love the Shield 9.

I'm not a handgun novice and not shy about saying what I don't like, but I think for CCW, S&W has hit it out of the park with the M&P Shield line.Tomorrow. I'll decide if the the 45 is as good as the 9. I'm sure others have opinions :-)

I followed the same path. The .45 is a little tougher for me to shoot, but still accurate and reliable. I added TFX pros on the .45 and have factory night sights on the 9mm. So far the TFX are better in every way for me. Both have eaten a variety of ammo, flawless after a combined 400 to 500 rounds. Enjoy!

Yeah they are great, fast shipping two I have ordered from them before, just checked and the 45 is out of stock, so placed and order from whittakerguns instead $315 shipped, couldn't pass that deal.

Yes, I've got a 9mm on the way from Whittakers and after seeing the premium that everyone else wants for a .45 I ordered one of those this morning too. Don't need it and possibly don't even want it,.....but how can I be sure what I need or want until I have one?

I'm ordering one the 9, no safety. Would appreciate reviews of the factory tritium. Can't find much via Google. Worth the extra $? Comes with an extra mag so I would think so. In broad daylight, any drawbacks? Or, should a guy just go with basic and upgrade with aftermarket?

Factory NS are trijicon, my FS 45 has factory NS and they are good as any other NS on the market.

If your experience is anything like mine, your Shield 9 is on its way to becoming a safe queen. The .45 is that much better.

OK -- Got the Shield 45 yesterday morning; took it home and cleaned it. It was possibly the dirtiest new firearm I've ever gotten internally. All 3 mags had been test fired, as had the pistol, clearly. It also had the factory lube issue to be cleaned off. It has a date of 020617 so it was 2 months old today.

Shot a 125 rounds variety of ammo, all 230g ball --Aquila, Federal and NATO white box that was marked FC, also Federal, I believe.

It fit my hand well and shot great, although the rear sight needs to go to the right a smidge. The night sights are also great. There really is nothing not to like although the grip is grippy, it didn't bother me and it won't since I don't usually shoot more than 100 rounds at a time from a carry pistol.

The size is pretty much perfect. Pics to follow, maybe tomorrow after I clean it up again.

If you think you want one, get it!

By the way, all tritium tubes are made by Trijicon, no matter the brand of sight so it's how they're arranged that makes a difference. The ones on this pistol are nice. Traditional 3 dot, with a white ring around the front sight. Easy to see in the daylight, great at night.

I'd get factory...saves a step to have aftermarket installed and probably some money since the cheapest you can get mags for is about $25. I just got them on the Shield 45 and they're nice ones. Rear is drift adjustable, front has white ring around the tritium tube.

The 45 Shield replaced my 9 Shield as my EDC....
can't begin to tell you why but my shot groups at all ranges from
5 to 15 yards are much tighter with the 45. ?? plus I just like the feel of it better than the 9. My 45 seems to have (this may be my overactive imagination) a better trigger.

I have no interest in a Shield. I have no *need* for a Shield....

With current prices & S&W's rebate, I recently ordered two...
