Default Info on a 9mm ported CORE

Asking third party for my cousin in Alaska.

His wife recently purchased an M&P 9mm ported CORE.

I'm here a lot, but not in the S&W semi auto category.

I know little or nothing about semi auto Smith's.
I assume the M&P ported Core has a white dot front
sight by his email.

She is disappointed, as the front sight becomes sooted up
and obscures the white dot after only a few rounds.

Common? Normal? Just the nature of the beast?
A fix?

Looking for any advice to share with him.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I have a PC Shield (ported) and yes the front sight can get dirty after some rounds at the range. Though to be honest my range trip can be 100-150 rounds at a time and i can still see my FO sight at the end.... though yes it is a bit dirtier over when i start.
A quick cure is having some qtips in the range bag for a quick wipe down.

Normal. I have a few q-tips in the ammo box in case it gets bad enough that I need to clean it immediately. Otherwise, it gets wiped down after every range session.

While I have one, mine has a Burris FFIII MRDS on it. My front sight doesn't seem to be overly dirty. Picture is of it after a 3-gun match and before cleaning. I don't actually "clean" the front sight anyways.

Smile My solution....

....was to call Storm Lake and buy an unported barrel to replace the factory barrel. The ports on a 9mm gun are almost useless since the 9mm is not a heavy kicker in the full size gun. I don't mind the lightened slide but the ported barrel is just a sales gimmick.

BTW: S&W won't sell a barrel as a replacement part.

I disagree. I and others that have shot my pistol notice a difference between ported and unported. I am also slightly faster with my follow up shots.

I disagree too. I notice a difference in recoil. My front sight doesn't get dirty much either. I suppose a little more than a non ported barrel but that's why I got the CORE....So I could put a red dot on it. I look for the red dot not the white one.
