Default Are S&W Performance Center pistols worth the upcharge

Are S&W Performance Center pistols worth the upcharge? There seem to be as many issues with PC pistols as with regular pistols. One would think that for the upcharge and to provide cachet to the name the PC would put out a superior product. Do they?

Supposedly the PC version comes with better trigger out of the box, that's what most people said I never had one, also you can send your gun to get the PC treatment done on your dime. I prefer to get the cheaper-non pc version and upgrade with apex parts, and I don't like ported guns.

I would guess that most of us here who have PC guns are very happy with them and have had no issues; vs those who have had trouble. Same likely can be said for non-PC owners here (positive experiences far outweighing negative ones...).

I have a PC Shield; bought it for the trigger upgrade and FO sights and I really enjoy shooting it. Porting perhaps a small benefit on follow up shots but overall the PC was a good purchase for me. I'm not one to modify a gun with aftermarket parts (speaking of trigger components) so like what came on the PC.

My .02 only of course.

Last week I had the chance to shoot the Spec Ops with threaded barrel used, 9mm Pro Series used , New 1 version M&P, and a new 2.0 all in 9mm.

I could not really see much difference between any of the triggers. The Pro and 2.0 did not have a improved trigger. The Spec Ops with the most rounds thru it had the smoothest trigger of the bunch.

Default PC guns

I didn't think that my 17-8 Heritage represented good value (purchased early on,before they were heavily discounted by distributors) or good quality.
I did think that my 27-7 and 27-8 were great, and my 952-1 was exceptional.

It was worth it for me. I got my PC 40L (SKU 10100) for a good discount, and am very happy with it. I feel the trigger is better than standard if that's all your looking at. I am in the process of doing the Apex flat faced forward set trigger mod to mine, but that's just for my needs. I have shot a 9L with the Apex trigger and, in my opinion, it's the cat's nuts. But the M&P is a great service pistol, and you can go from there. But definitely get a CORE, the optics are worth the extra money.
