Post Question on Shield take down lever

Bought 2 new Shields 9mm. Both takedown levers take the same effort to rotate them down and the tension seems the same on both. After the slides are removed, the lever on one is real loose and swings side to side just by shaking the pistol. If you rotate the lever up just past parallel it can be easily picked out of the frame. The lever on the other pistol is snug after rotating down and when it is rotated parallel it can't be picked out of the frame. I'm a little concerned that the loose one might not latch properly. Assemble the slides and rotate levers back and they have equal tension again and both snap back right into place on their own with a solid snap. Called S&W and they didn't think there was an issue and I tend to agree. These are the first pistols I have owned so I am looking to the experts to tell me if I'm being OCD about this or quit worrying. Just don't want my pistol flying apart because it wasn't latched properly.

It seems like its okay. There will be some differences from one to another. Shoot them a bunch and see if they function correctly. I just pull the trigger to release the slide.

Pretty sure you can remove the takedown lever when the slide is off by rotating it and pulling it out to the left. It is keyed and must be inserted correctly to go back in.

I think you're talking about something other than the take down lever. If you leave it out, well....

If you leave out the take down lever the barrel, slide and recoil spring will fall off of the gun and it will not function.
