Default M&P22 Mag disassembly

Has anybody had problems getting their baseplate off of the mag body?
I had to use a little more force than normal to depress the insert button, and when it popped in, there seem to be a layer of something white or gray that broke away, and has now caved in and is inside the mag.
I can't get the baseplate to slide off at all.
I did some pretty heavy "tapping" and it doesn't want to budge.
I'm worried that heavier tapping may cave in the body, and render it useless.
There don't seem to be any side notches like on those stupid Glock magazines.
Any suggestions???

I am certainly no authority on the matter, but I recall seeing a video on YouTube when I was looking for one about modifying the compact mag for greater capacity. I came across a video about the 22 std and it was taken apart for some reason. I recall there being a whir plastic item that rested between the follower and the baseplate. I didn't pay much attention since I had the compact mags.

You might try a search on you tune for M&P 22 magazine modifications. You might just find what you want. Be patient searching and you are likely to get good results.

I decided to do a little more tapping and got it off with out destroying the mag.
There was a massive dried puddle of glue that had seeped into every crack

Seems as though they glue the shizz out of that stupid California "-2" piece.
I couldn't get it to twist or pull off, so it tore out.
So there's no tip at the bottom anymore to hold the spring, but fortunately you don't use that piece with the +5 kits I found for the mag.
If anyone's interested, they are giving away free beta followers that lock the slide back, as the kit followers don't.

Was it a 10 round mag? I heard that s&w glued those base plates so you couldn't remove the spacer and make it a 12 round.

Yeah, CA says the mod must be "permanent" but doesn't define "permanent". Most either glue or rivet the plates on.

Sounds about right.
Mine was labeled as 10, but 12 easy without the spacer, which I see are glued in there now.
The baseplate is easy enough to remove with some calculated strenuous tapping, but the spacer won't come off now with all that glue jammed up in the inseert. So to get it off, you ruin the insert that locks the baseplate.
But it's just a daytime fun gun for me and the kids, so I'm converting my mags to 15 rounds.
The only thing you keep with the kit is the mag body and baseplate.
