M&P22 sight size
Are the dovetails on my fullsize M&P22 slide the same size as the M&P 9, 40, 45, etc.
This is going to be a daytime only playtoy, and I'm looking to put a set of fiber optic sights on it.

When the fullsize M&P22 first came out, owners could get S&W to send them regular M&P sights. I don't recall what the complaint was. Well with these new sights in hand, owners proceeded to bugger up their guns, bugger up their old sights and the new ones. So, very quickly S&W stopped that policy. There was a lot of discussion on whether the sights actually were the correct dovetail. I don't remember whether the issue was ever resolved. I do know some folks claimed to have success with swapping the M&P sights. Personally, I wouldn't tackle this job without the proper sight pusher and perhaps a dovetail file if it seems the sight was too tight.

They are not quite the same. The dovetail angle is different. Dawson precision has a nice fiber optic for M&P 22.

Thanks catman. I see Dawson has a nice FO sight combo, and I found a set of truglos for less, that says this.....
"For Gun Model: M&P (Including Shield & .22 Models), SD9, SD40 (NOT VE Models) Will Not Fit .22 Compact or C.O.R.E. Models"
I'll give it a try, and if it doesn't fit, then it can go back.

They are either the same or 99.9% the same. My M&P 22 (non-compact) has a standard set of M&P Truglo fiber optics on it that I pulled off an M&P 9. I did very slightly fit the sights so they would not be too tight as the slide on the M&P 22 is not steel, and this the harder steel sights can damage the slide. Very happy with the Truglos.

Thanks mlk18, I'm going with a set of truglos for about $45, just a daytime playgun
