Default .45 ported Shield

Anyone hear any rumblings of the introduction of a ported version of the .45 Shield to join its 9mm and .40 brothers?

Do you mean the Shield or full-size?

If you actually mean Shield, they've been out for a while. Here's mine.

I was referring to the possibility of a ported version of the 45 shield.

What is the point of a ported .45 Shield? Not being facetious here...serious question. An unported Shield .45 shoots just fine out of the box, in my opinion. I have no problem with recoil. Plus you're shooting a heavy bullet out of a short barrel...why punch holes in the slide to lessen the power?

Again, my opinion here...a ported Shield .45 is a sales gimmick that might appeal to an inexperienced shooter...but not to anyone really familiar with the craft.

Better trigger
Better sights
Better grip

I'm with Watchdog, the ported barrel and slide doesn't appeal to me for a carry gun. I don't think the grips are different then standard. I've never held one but I don't see any extra stippling than standard.

I wish they would give you options of upgrades. I would choose the "enhanced" trigger, night sights and maybe throw in 3 magazines.

The ported Shield is not really an issue for retention shooting. If you wish, you can skip to the 1:50 mark.

The flash isn't much of an issue either.

The Shield 45 with night sights ships with 3 mags, and has a fine trigger and handles the 45 round very "calmly". I see no advantage for porting it.

My primary concern would be what the decibel increase is to a user inside a building

When you consider the extra mag and fiber optic sights, the additional $50 (as someone else stated) seems very reasonable. Viewing the vids, it does not appear that the recoil differs much - at least on the 9.

I am not a fan of porting an already short barreled carry gun, or off shooting it from the hip. I wish S&W would offer the PC model without ports as an option. I'd be all over it, I like the sear and the sights.
