Default New Bodyguard .380 range report

I finally purchased my new BG yesterday, and went to the range this morning.

I know pocket pistols an be ammo finicky, so I took 3 different loads of factory ammo along. Here are the results;

1) Fiocchi 95 grain FMJ. 50 rounds-2 light strikes(both cartridges fired on re-strike). Moderate recoil.

2)Winchester 95 grain PDX1 Defender JHP 50 rounds-100% reliable. Heavy recoil.

3)Hornady American Gunner 90 grain XTP 50 rounds-100% reliable. Mild recoil.

So the Hornady will be my ammo for the Bodyguard.

Great little pistol; quality, performance, accuracy, feel, and overall shootability

Thanks for the report. I picked my BG up today and will hit the range tomorrow if the wind quits. Have some WWB, Federal, Hornady AG and some Ruger ARX to test.

I carry mine with Fiocchi hollow points in it. It cycles them and all of the other rounds I have tried perfectly.

My BG does not like Perfecta or Monarch ammo....had FTF with both and light strikes with Monarch. No longer purchase these.
My best SD rounds when testing was Hydra Shok.....These fed 100 perfect even one handed. My other two SD would jam one handed. Hydra Shok is what I carry.

Default Oldster, regarding your ammo choices for the BG 380 ...

... I realize you posted this in April but just today I read a very thorough report on .380 ammo.
You might want to take a look at it before you buy a bunch of carry ammo. I was using Hornady too until I read this report, then I switched to and just ordered Precision One .380 90 grain XTP. Once you read the report, you'll understand why. Also, I purchased that particular ammo directly from the manufacturer.
Here's a link to the report: Final Results of the .380 ACP Ammo Quest | Shooting The Bull

Here's a link to the Precision One page of .380 ammo: 380 ACP : Precision ONe Ammunition, Dont Shoot Twice Shoot Precision ONe

Certainly not saying that this settles the question of which ammo to use in a 380 forever, but it was convincing enough for me. So, it's simply my opinion and thought I'd share it around with other Bodyguard 380 owners so they could have all of the facts available to them when choosing ammo for the Bodyguards.

Safe shooting to ya-
