Primer Strikes 45 Shield
Anyone have any ideas, new gun 25 rounds all the same. Appears to strike outer edge of the primer and dig a furrow to center. No FTF's.

Looks OK to me. Is this your first striker gun?

The drag mark is probably being caused when the slide/barrel come out of battery and the barrel drops down, during the phase immediately after firing. A common sight on semi-auto pistol primers. Your actual f.p./striker impacts look good.
If you care to stage an experiment, these marks should all appear at the "12 o'clock" position on the primer.

These strikes and marks look very similar to my 45 Shield results too. Sounds like by armorer951 description that it is a center strike followed by the 'drag'.
Mine goes bang everytime so far!

Primer is struck in the center and the firing pin "wipes" that furrow as the empty shell is being extracted. You do not have a problem! You do have a fine gun!!!

Known as striker drag... its caused by the slide coming out of battery quickly.
S&W has always had an early barrel dwell timing. Cases look normal for S&W
Shoot it and dont worry about it.

I was about to post pictures of primers that look exactly like Bugtussel511 posted when I fund this post. Looks like all is normal. Is the detent shown at 6 o'clock below the firing pin hole normal as well?
