Default Trigger recommendations for compact ccw pistol?

I traded my Shield for a Compact. My big hands and the single stack grip just never came to terms with each other.
I like the Compact, but the trigger, well, it has room for improvement.
I would like to replace the trigger, any suggestions? I use this as my EDC, so I don't want too light of a trigger.

Everyone loves the Apex parts. The duty/carry kit might be to your liking.

I put some Apex stuff in my first M&P but then I discovered that with very little work I could achieve similar results with the stock parts. My second M&P got the Apex sear but nothing else. My third and fourth ones still have all of their original parts and have very acceptable triggers.

Definitely the best trigger for you gun is the Apex trigger kit, I have the duty carry kit installed on my shield cause it is my EDC, and it is definitely a great improvement, no more grittiness, it breaks crisp and clean at 5.5 lb.

I'm an apex fanboy have the same kit on my FS 45, and the FSS kit on my FS 9. Two days ago bought a 9c, the trigger is awfully spongy, gritty, and around 7lb pull, no doubt I will get the same apex treatment.

I bought just the duty/carry spring that made the pre travel heavier just as I wanted. But then the final pull to fire the shot was too heavy. i followed a lot of the advice here to help it out.

I am very happy w/ the results but could have probably gotten the same by getting the complete duty/carry kit. OTOH, I learned a lot about the M&P trigger system.

Same here. Sear and striker block only. Then polished a few places well. Under 5 lbs and smoother. YMMV

That's a little lighter than I want. Looked at Apex kit. Guess the question now is Action kit with or without trigger.

Ill confess to being a little overwhelmed with the idea of installing it myself. Probably will take it to a smith.

For me, the pull weight of a trigger isn't as important as a good, clean, predictable break.

The design of the M&P really lends itself to making that perfectly achievable without replacing parts or altering any factory geometries. Some light polishing on a few components and the right lube in the right places really makes for a smooth pull with a very predictable break.

If you were anywhere near me I'd let you try a couple of mine and I bet you'd like them.

if you have a good gunsmith you don't need the Apex parts. My gunsmith did the trigger on my shield and my 9C. Started with mass compliant triggers 10.5 pound pulls, gritty, long take ups , no audible reset etc.
Now they are both right below 5 pounds, smooth, short take ups and short clear resets. No apex parts are needed if you have a competent gunsmith.
I think the Apex kits are great if you want to do it yourself.

Right on with that. However, even some smiths can really mess up a sear. And the sear is where it's all "happening." I considered my time to slowly and carefully work the sear, along with several re-assemblies and dis-assemblies and decided just that part alone from Apex was cheaper than my time. I did the rest (polishing, etc.) myself and Cerakoted the slide while it was apart, stippled frame. Great experience.
