Question Shield trigger bar question?

On your Shield 9mm, if you look through the little square opening in right rear side of the slide, when you pull the trigger back, does the point on trigger bar immediately move to the left and then depress the striker block on it's left side or does it depress the striker block in the center?

My full size M&P seems to come straight back, but my Shield immediately moves to the left and then depress the striker block.

Is this how they should be working?

My shield trigger bar tab moves straight back and depresses (raises) the striker block. Only after a round has been fired and the trigger released does the trigger bar tab move to the left, after being pushed to the right by the recoil of the slide.

There is no striker block in the center. From the rear of the gun the striker block is on the right in the slide. The only thing in the center that is affected by the trigger pull is the striker which is released by the sear, in the frame, being moved by the trigger bar loop. If you trigger bar moves to the left before the striker is release you have a problem of some sort.

Yes, it fires so it works. For 1,624 rounds to be exact it has gone bang every time.

@ Raisin, yes I am talking about just moving to left in the "channel" that contains the striker block.

It's like as soon as you start to pull the trigger back the trigger bar moves off the "bump" in the slide channel allowing it to engage the sear as icemn was explaining.

Sounds like it's working normally!

Thanks everyone!

Trigger bar moves to the right as the slide recoils. That is the disconnect mechanism because that movement holds the trigger bar away from the sear in recoil. Trigger will not fire until the slide returns to battery. This is initiated by a hump in the inside middle rib of the slide along the right rear behind the striker safety that presses on the striker safety extension of the trigger bar.
