Question Frame Shock Buffer?

Is this equivalent to adding an oil additive AKA-SNAKE OIL, to an engine, but in this case, this is an M&P SNAKE OIL additive? I had NEVER heard of this "THING" until I was looking around on a bidding website. This thing reminds me of my days as a pipefitter/welder and sending the green helpers for a pipe stretcher or welding rod grease.

I read about it on truthaboutgun.com. The Article The reviewer couldn't feel the difference but it did reduce muzzle rise. Unfortunately, it didn't stay in place.

I tried some buffers in my 1911 but with wear they would deteriorate. Not something I want for carry.

I'm sure the will sell millions.

Wouldn't use one in my Shield.
No experience in my Shield, but not good in a commander length 1911. Will cause the slide to not lock back on most on an empty magazine. (Decreases slide travel.)
In fact, a 5" Kimber 1911 in 9mm had one installed when purchased used. Same issue.
Many experienced semi-auto shooters do not care for them.
Change your recoil spring as needed and forget the Snake-Oil.

I can say with expert certainty they work. If it's on the internet, it has to be true, right?
I keep mine right next to my Full Race Gascap and Competition Fan Belt.

I've still been waiting for someone to show me credible evidence that a buffer is EVER needed to protect the weapon.

(That said, I've know that at least one H&K model comes with a special buffer from the factory... but that may done for reasons other than protecting the frame.)

Generally speaking the recoil spring is in a semi-auto to store recoil energy from the last shot fired to to strip the next round from the magazine and chamber it -- NOT to manage recoil, protect the frame, or make the shooter have a more pleasurable experience. I think Browning called that spring a "reaction" spring in his 1911 patent documents.

One pro shooter I know uses buffers WITH a lighter recoil spring to make the slide cycle more quickly; he may have said something about reducing muzzle rise -- but that conversation was several years ago, and I simply don't remember.
