Default M&P 2.0 Backstraps

I just picked up a brand new M&P 40 2.0. Love the gun so far except for one minor cosmetic annoyance. Has anyone noticed that the large backstraps don't mold to the gun that well? The main part of the grip is fine but the beavertail type extension that curves up at the top does not sit flush with the underside of the gun. Just cheapens the look in my opinion. The gun looks much better with the med or small backstrap that doesn't extend at the top. See pic...

Agreed, and it stood out more in FDE on my 2.0. Beretta APX is the same way..

I've designed a few injection molded parts over the years, and getting a precise fit between two parts like that is nearly impossible. After molding, some plastics really like to move around. That's why you'll normally see an exaggerated witness line between two parts, like the curved line between the backstrap and grip on the side. That wide line with no texture makes the varying gap between the molded parts less obvious. I suspect the guys at S&W chose a polymer with extremely good toughness and durability, and traded some dimensional stability and shrinkage to get it.

That said, my small backstrap bugs the hell out of me, visually. There's a sink mark along the back edge that ruins the smooth curve from the top to the bottom.

Heat it up w/ a hair drier or heat gun and re-shape it a bit? I am thinking do it off the gun and go just a little bit further than absolutely needed so, when you install it, there is just a little pressure in that area to keep them together.

M&P 9mm 2.0 . I have noticed on the small BS the opening is slightly larger where the back strap pin holds it in place giving it a somewhat sloppy looser fit . Also the small BS has way more give than other sizes . They need to re issue that using a better mold IMO .
