Question Shield 40-9 Conversion Barrel?

I know that this has been discussed ad infinitum, but has anyone used one yet?

I found one offered by True Precision for around $200, but before I order one, I would like to know if there are any less expensive. Also, has anyone tried their version?

I can't comment on the conversion but would point out that your going to need 9mm magazines too. Given that you can own a new 9mm Shield for less than $300 (after the current $75 rebate), I'd vote that would be the better value.

You are making a great point. But, I already have a 9mm, too! My wife carries it. I like the 40, but I also would like the option for 9mm in it.

I don't own a Shield, I do own a M&P 40c, I purchased a S&W factory barrel in 9mm from Midway, ran about 30 rounds through it with no problems.

Having done a 40 to 9 with an OEM 9mm barrel and knowing the caveats of doing so (on a Sig pistol but still), I wouldn't hesitate to try the REMSPORT. The benefit of the conversion barrel is the barrel hood fitting the slide appropriately rather than having a slight gap if a 9mm barrel was used. (barrel is still solid when in battery).

Default The long wait is over.................

Got an e-mail from Lone Wolf on 6-17. They list a 9mm stock length barrel for $139.95, but do not say if it's a conversion barrel or not. They do have a threaded conversion barrel, .40 to 9mm.
which is what I wanted in the first place for $159.95 and free shipping. So one Wednesday when they actually had them in stock again, I ordered one. It was in my mailbox Friday. You can't beat that cust. svc.

I had planned to do some serious testing and report results, but at the rate I'm going it wouldn't be news, it'd be ancient history. I can report that as I had expected, the .40 mags worked flawlessly, gaining one extra round capacity. I have since ordered 2 mags in 9mm, just in case.

In 2 boxes of ammo, one 115 gr. PMC and one 124gr. Magtech, there were no FTAnything and the laser sight needed only minor adjustment to bounce ornery soda cans around.

We have true (pun intended) engineered 40-9 conversion drop in barrels available on the website right now. We currently have dimpled/threaded in stock in several finishes including Stainless, black Nitride QPQ, Gold TiN, Blue TiN (proprietary color), and Stealth Gray (dark) DLC. These are the newest Shield conversion barrels and have a re-engineered barrel hood that no longer drags. We have the Stainless dimpled & threaded for $179 and the highest DLC/TiN coated barrels we carry are $199.99. All our barrels are designed and manufactured here in the US from US sourced steel.

From left to right in the picture: Polished Stainless, black Nitride QPQ (factory slide match), Gold TiN, Blue TiN, and Stealth Gray DLC.
