Default The problem with a really great pistol..

...is the sudden desire to buy another one.

I bought my .45 Shield from PSA and took it to the range yesterday. I was stunned to find it incredibly easy to shoot and very accurate with whatever I put in it. I got home last night and ordered the Shield 10108. I am looking forward to it too, and for $389 then minus the $75 for a final price of $314, you can't lose.

How did this line of pistols fly below my radar for so long?

I have had my 9mm shield for about a year now,and I have been fighting the temptation to get a .45ACP for a stablemate.I may yet become weak, and get one before the rebate ends.

I bought a Shield .45 to present to my son when he graduates from the University in June. I took it out to make sure it functioned properly and enjoyed it so much that before I knew it I had put a few hundred rounds through it so I had to buy another one for him. I own several handguns including a couple of others in .45 but this little Shield is a blast to shoot. It's actually accurate enough to shoot for best groups at 20 meters. Probably accurate out even farther but at my age and with my vision, 20 meters is where I draw my line (and also where the sticker bushes start at my shooting spot). Not the most accurate pistol I own but for it's size and price it's got to be about the most pistol you can get for your buck. After the rebate they will have cost me about $270 each.

There's an old maxim that if you find something you really like, buy two, because they'll quit making it. Ask any 3rd generation S&W automatic fan for verification.

I've had this happen a couple of times, with Swiss K-31 rifles for $100.00, and Sig P6 surplus pistols for $300.00. Shot one, had to go get another before the supply dried up.

preaching to the choir brother. I have my shield 9mm and I gave one to my mother... with prices this low I'm looking at grabbing a second 9mm shield and a .45 shield as well (I traded my first .45 shield for a CZ-75 P-01 just as the rebates came out. best trade of my life). I like ALL sorts of guns, but hte shield just fits my hand WELL

You are going to love your Shield 45. I went out shooting on Monday and fired a 23 round group offhand at 50ft that (with the exception of two fliers) rivals most of the groups I get from my P220. Wish I knew how to post photo's. It's a great pistol in any case.

I picked up my .45 Thursday, but haven't spent much time with it.I gave it a quick wipe-down,visual inspection, and basic function test. Here is what I know so far:
1-the factory must have gotten a good deal on oil.It was fairly dripping when I unboxed the pistol.
2-I only thought the 9mm recoil spring was stiff. The spring in the .45 is a BEAR!!!
3-the mags appear to have the new-style follower. The mag springs aren't as strong as the ones in the 9mm mags.I was able to load five into each mag before using the UpLula.
4-the texture on the grip frame is very rough, but the over-all feel is good.
Hopefully the monsoon will let up this weekend and I can throw some lead downrange.

I got my .45 Shield this week but haven't been to the range with it yet. I can't wait! I love the feel of it in my hand too!

sold all my full sized and now only have 2 40c and a shield in 9. I cry often missing the 40 full size and the 40 pro. one was sold to a shooting buddy so I do still get to shoot it often

I was able to do a little shooting with the .45 this afternoon. There were no surprises. It fed, fired and ejected with no drama.Empties were in a pile 6 feet to the side. The gun shoots a bit low and left, but I suspect that is me rather than the gun.Recoil was actually rather mild,Follow-up shots were no problem, and it was easy to get into a rhythm. The trigger has about 1/8" take-up to the wall, then about 5 lbs.to the break.
The texture on the backstrap is very rough.I will need a glove for extended sessions at the range.

Then you haven't bought a really great pistol. At least for me, once I got a really great pistol, I lost all desire to buy another. I mean, I already have the pinnacle, why would I buy another?

This has happened to me twice; once with a 1911 and again with a shotgun.

Took 3 pistols to the range this morning, including my new .45 Shield. Only one failure to feed in 100 rounds, which seemed to hang up on the lower edge of the feed ramp. It was the 2nd or 3rd round in the magazine - UMC FMJ bulk ammo, so I'll just have to go again and see what happens!
I'm very pleased with it so far. Recoil is a lot better than I expected - not much different than my USP 45, and the grip is a better fit for me than the H&K.
Next time, I'm just going to take the Shield!
