Default 380 HST's 99 grain

Any body using these in the bodyguard?

I believe the HST tested a bit better than Hydrashok, there is also HST micro for short barrel guns. I carry Hornady Critical defense on all my guns (380,9mm,45acp).

me too. I picked up some HST 165 grain 50 round boxes of 40 S&W today. I've been visiting all the local gun stores, grabbing up the HST where I can find it. It is popular stuff. If I find it, it's usually just a few boxes or in the 380 caliber I could only find 1 box.

Default Federal 99gr. HST

This is my carry ammo in my S&W bodyguard. I actually ran this ammo through a chronograph and it averaged right around 975 fps. This is pretty impressive given the short barrel length on the bodyguard. I had been using Hornady's 90gr American Gunner ammo but switched when I found that the HST ammo was consistently faster than the Hornady ammo (75 fps average higher velocity with a heavier bullet). Recoil is only slightly sharper than other loads I have tested but still very manageable.

Here is some very useful info based on penetration and expansion testing of .380 self-defense rounds:

Final Results of the .380 ACP Ammo Quest | Shooting The Bull

I use Fiocchi Extremas in my SIG P250 subcompact .380 because they're usually the easiest to find of those that were recommended. They've also cycled perfectly in my SIG.

Lucky gunner's ammo test now has the HST in 380. It didn't do well.

Great ammo in 9mm. 380, not so much.

I cant remember what his name was but there is a guy with a ton of views on youtube who tested every single 380 self defense ammo available and if i recall correctly hornady was horribly inconsistent, federal variants came in second place along with speer neck and neck. The ammo that was most consistent and almost always penetrated past 14 inches was Precision One hollow points. So that's what I carry in my BG.

I wouldnt blink twice about carrying speer (which i go to for 9mm) or federal

edit: here he is

Where do you find the Fiocchi? I must be searching the wrong place. Midway, target sports, sportsman's guide all say out of stock and some suggest it may never come back. Cabelas says backorderable but I don't trust that. I think I signed up for email notifications from several a month or so ago to no avail. I bought Hornaday XTP in the meantime for the deep cover RM380.
