Default The Siren Song of "Rebate"

The memorizing siren song of "rebate" finally got to me.
I ordered a new 9mm Shield w/o TS today from SOSS and 5 additional mags from Palmetto.
I surely don't need another gun. Actually, I probably need to sell a few. But that rebate subtracted from that $299 price for a new 9mm M&P was just too much for me to bear. It will get a disassembly, clean, lube upon arrival and immediately taken to my favorite shooting spot for a couple hundred rounds.
I've been kinda lurking on all these Shield threads for awhile now, and from what I've read, this little gun should fit the bill for replacing one of my other CC guns that is caught up in a class action lawsuit which obviously takes out of any kind of CC use. The Shield will replace that gun in my CC lineup once it's proven itself.

So... replacing a 1st gen PT111? Yeah the Shield is miles ahead of that thing.

Yeah.....I've had that gun for a long, long time. It was pretty reliable with just about everything I fed it and served me well, but it's well past time for it to go. I've got a couple of other 9mm guns of comparable size that I also use for CC that are also miles ahead of the PT111, but they are more expensive guns that I'd sure hate to lose. All winter, I've been packing an M&P 40 converted over to .357 SIG, but with summer coming, I needed to get back to a smaller, less expensive, reliable, easier to conceal gun. BTW, that 40 in .357 SIG is one bad to the bone hombre, but the ammo is expensive and not as easy to reload as straight pistol cases, but it can be successfully done.
For CC, I try to stick to a less-expensive, but reliable gun. The pricing/rebate on the Shield definitely got my attention. Looking forward to getting my grimy cheap little hands on it.
