Default First range trip Shield 9, Apex trigger

First range trip today.
200 rounds with 0 issues. Flawless!

I have installed the Apex shield trigger kit, talon grips and pro I-dot night sights with the front sight orange.
A friend brought his 3 yr old stock Shield 9. Well broken in and shoots well.
I'm very pleased with the sights, trigger and rubberized talon grip.
I purchased a couple additional 8 round mags.
The only issue was the first two mags didn't lock the slide open because my finger was up so I was hitting the release. I made a correction & no more issues there.
I'm very pleased with the trigger. It doesn't seem light to me, just crisper than stock. The stock hinged trigger just doesn't feel good to me.
Night sights are always better and in the poor lighting at the range the orange front sight really helped. The talon grips make a big difference.
The 8 round mag is much easier to grip the pistol.
Lots of fun and very happy with my Shield 9
I shot 100 rounds of 115gr WWB ball and a mix of 124gr-147gr Hornady, Federal HST, and Speer.

Did you fire it with factory trigger? How much better does it feel? I am considering getting the same apex (blue line) or the red one

Yes, I fired my friends stock shield. My friend's shield has seen 3.5 years of monthly range trips and its well broken-in. Its a good trigger.
My Shield's Apex trigger is the best striker trigger I have ever fired.(non competition)
I've professionally trained with Glocks & Beretta 92s and I own both. But I prefer M&Ps. They just fit my hand so well. I have a Pro series 9 that I used in IDPA for 3 years before I put in the Apex comp trigger kit. The difference is huge.
My oldest son has a stock 2016 M&P9 and is saving for an Apex DCAEK.
I have a Walther PPS (M1/classic) and I used to think the trigger was pretty good. But all things are relative...

The enhanced trigger is a great upgrade it reduces over travel and reset. I have no complain with the hinge trigger, but the apex trigger feels a lot better. I have the flat face trigger with the FSS kit on my FS9, and the enhanced trigger along with the D/C kit on my 9c and FS 45. I wonder why apex never produced the polymer trigger for the shield.

I wonder why S&W stopped engineering the M&P at 90%. I don't mean to take anything from the engineers at Apex, I am very impressed with their products. S&W could have gone the last 10% and they would own the market. An Apex'd M&P is the best in its class by a mile. Imagine if S&W had finished the sear, finished polishing the plunger, and a couple of springs...

Nice Shield! I recently added the Apex trigger to my new Shield 9.

I like it. I don't think it is the vast improvement Apex triggers were to the early M&P's, but it is a smidgin shorter, a tad lighter, and a small amount crisper.

Worth $75? In this case, yes; I Ebayed an almost-new 5.11 operator belt found in the closet and bunch of old gun bits I had in a drawer and put together the money, so my wife has no idea I spent money on my Shield.
