Todays my birthday...hmmmmm...what to do what to do

I spoke to Brett 2 days ago and told him about the magazine dropping out.

He replied "I've never heard of that issue. Unfortunately, the followers are on back order".

Funny, I didn't mention followers to him. He had never heard of the issue but knew exactly what the fix was? Pretty awful Customer Service, if you ask me.

Nonetheless, they are on order for my 45 and hopefully it fixes the really annoying issue. I thought it's been user error for a few months.

I spoke to "Brett" a week ago and specifically explained this issue. He should of been a politician. Wonder how he can say these things with a straight face. Why lie to your customers who are paying your salary.

I'm sure Dave is a great guy, but.......you got Rachel???? Some guys have all the luck....

Had not had a problem but thought I would get the new ones. Got on chat, Rachel was my rep, quick discussion, gave name and address and got an order number! Did say they were on backorder but it's not my EDC so I told her no problem.

I have 6 magazines with the old follower as of today 800 rnds and no mag drop. After reading this thread I contacted Smith on live chat and got Brett. After telling him I heard they have a upgraded and redesigned follower and I wanted 6, He said he can put in for an order for 6 but they are currently out of stock.
You all must've retrained Brett because it was a no hassle chat.
Also I had him check on my order for replacement Recoil Spring assemblies for the 45 Shield and Also the 9 Shield and they was sent out FedEx 6-28-17 and tracking shows its still in Ohio for some reason.
Only problem I have with the RSA is the 45 seems kinda loose when you put it back together after cleaning but hasnt caused any problems.
If Smith and Wesson is giving out free parts I may as well get some!

Just fired my new Shield 45 PC yesterday for the first time and experienced these same mag drops. I thought at first it was a training issue with my thumb placement but remained puzzled since I don't have this problem with my Shield 9. Once I saw this post, looked at the followers in my mags and saw they were the old style, I knew it wasn't me. New followers are in the mail from S&W as we speak. FYI, I asked Jarred (spelling?) at S&W if I should ask for four replacements instead of two since I qualified for the Perfect Summer Hideaway promotion with this purchase which includes two more magazines. The answer was no, the mags coming with the promotion already have had the fix installed.

Well this is ****. I've had em on order since June 22 as they told me they are on back order with idea when they will get em yet they are mailing some to u today. I just get more and more fed up with this company.

I spoke with David today and told him about the magazine dropping out.

He replied "I've never heard of that issue". He took my info and said he would send new follower assembly out.

You can file down your old one and have the same result. I also popped out the top of the magazine cutout on the magazine a few thousandths just to make sure it doesn't drop out.

Wow my followers showed up today. I asked for assemblies and the paperwork says assemblies but all they sent are followers. Oh Well.

got my two followers today and replaced the old ones. Fire about 200 rounds from the 7 round mag and about 75 from the 6 round mag, Glad to report NO drop issues at all. Both mags ran flawlessly, Having said that I also used 2 old mags with the old followers (1 7 round mag and 1 6 round mag) and they also functioned well.
I did have the mag drop issue but like a dope I can't remember which mags caused it. So i guess its a **** shoot with the Shield 45 mags, I will concede that there seem to be more satisfied Shield 45 owners with NO issued than there are Shield 45 owners that HAVE issues.

Just want to say thanks. I bought a Shield 45 this morning. with only about 60 rounds, I had several mag releases. Thought I was accidentally hitting the release. But it happened, no matter what my hold. This evening I sent S&W an email, asking if this is a known issue. Hopefully they will reply promptly. My mags do have the old followers. So for now, I'm carrying my old flawless 6906.

One thing that that kind of rubs me the wrong way... this morning, before I bought the pistol, I called Smith and asked if there were any differences in the original 45 and the 2.0. They assured me it was only a name change. Now that appears to not be 100% accurate.
