Default Red plastic?

Just picked up my first handgun, M&P Shield 9mm, and noticed that there was what seemed to be some red plastic (?) that seemed to be stuck in a hole in the top of the slide. Anybody know what it could be and if there should be any concern?

It could be some excess red loctite when the rear sights were installed. It probably just dried and looks like plastic, it can be wiped off.
