This is a first for me, as I've never encountered a problem like this. Just bought a brand new M2.0 FDE 5" 9mm and went to field strip it and the slide won't come off. My bad for not field stripping at the LGS, but it racked fine and all else checked out ok.
Anyway, took it to the LGS and the guys there were able to get it off with a few whacks from a rubber mallet. Everything looked ok, but we couldn't get the slide back on. It hung up on the left rail when trying to slide it back.
A test with the calipers showed the left rail on the locking block was wider than the right. I have no idea how they got the slide on at S&W without using a mallet. No amount of muscle we tried could slide it on. We finally took the locking block out and took a file to it to shave it down and can put the slide back on with a little bit of effort. Still hangs up a bit and not smooth. We don't see any damage in the slide rail, so the slide should be ok. Regardless, I need to get a new locking block. This is the second time I've been bit by piss poor QC at S&W. Tomorrow I pick up a new Glock 19G4 with front serrations
