Long story that I won't bore anyone with but a have an older M&P Pro that I'm doing some trigger work on. While the port on the left side of the frame, where the lock would go, is plugged the sear housing still has the spring loaded rotating cross pin that sits laterally across the sear housing. One side is flat which lets the trigger bar pass thus dropping the sear and firing the pistol. When rotated the pin blocks the trigger bar thus preventing the pistol from firing. There is no external lock as I mentioned. That hole has a factory installed plug in it. The problem is that the damn pin easily rotates when reassembling the pistol thus locking up the trigger bar and requiring the repositioning of the pin in order to have a pistol capable of firing once reassembly is complete. I see no other function for this cross pin. I have other M&P pistols that don't even have this pin. My inclination is to completely remove the pin and have done so. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any known problems associated with the removal of this locking pin?
