Default Shield 10 round magazine?

Does anybody know if S&W makes a factory 10 round magazine for the 9mm shield? In my state i can carry 10. My gun came with two 8 round and one 7. I carry with the 7 as it tucks nicely and oddly enough, i shoot better with the 7 than the 8, but i would like some 10's for the range. Any ideas? I know i can modify the 7 and 8's but i'd rather get a factory magazine and not modify anything. Also, if they do make them and you have any experience with how it makes the gun feel, can you chime in?

Promags...great for the range. Forget about carry.

Ive had great luck with them -0- problems.

Mammas with the 10 rounder.....

IMHO it is best to use the same mags for practice that you intend to carry, and practice drawing and reloading quickly. In other words, practice like you intend to fight.
I've seen too many who use the biggest magazine they can find, start with the gun out, yank the trigger as fast as possible, casually load another magazine at leisure, and can't draw or reload a magazine for spit. And then call that "practice for defense."

Default Promag

I hate to say it but my Promag 10 round Shield 9mm has not had any issues. The spring isn't as strong as factory but it works. They seem to be easy to find for $15-$20 online.

At times, I carry 24 (7+1, 8 & 8) and other times 16 (7+1 & 8). How many of those 10s are you going to carry? When I go to the range, I just take extra mags and my UpLula loader. Two extra rounds per mag don't help much.

Default Magguts

I've not tried them but the Magguts spring setup is supposed to add one round of capacity and works with either mag.
It's about the cost of a whole mag but I've not heard of any issues. If we're talking carry I'd rather have a factory 8+1 over the 10 round Promag.

I have 2 Pro mag 10round magazines and plan on getting a third. Range only as they are to big for conceal carry. $20.00 each on eBay.

Magguts makes a +2 spring kit now that works with the 7 and 8 round magazines. I installed one in a 7 round mag for 9+1. It adds about 1/8 inch to the mag. It has been flawless after a couple hundred rounds.

Kudos on the maggots. I have converted the 7 round mag to 9 and the 8 round mag to 10 with ZERO issues. well over 200 rounds per mag and ZERO issues lock back every time.
Very impressed with these maggots and the 7 round mag converted to 9 rounds is smaller than the factory 8 round extended mag

Default +2

My bad, thought the magguts was +1 not +2.

I've not seen one up close but based on pics it looks like they're doing the same thing Beretta does with their 92 series mags. Older & GI mags have a single spring and hold 15 rounds like most other mags. Their 17 round mags are exactly the same size & same body but have a double stack spring setup that collapses flatter for two more rounds of capacity. That's on a double stack mag, so it's even more impressive with a single stack.

They offer both versions of the kits.

+1 Kit is follower, spring, and tiny metal base plate that works with standard mag base plates - so no change in external form factor of factory mags.

+2 Kits slightly modify external form factor with an additional extended mag base plate.

Yeah, me too. But the Magguts kits cost more than a new magazine. So, I have to wait a while to get a couple more.

+1 on the Magguts 2 round extensions. I put one on each of my 7-round mags, and am looking to put them on my 8-round mags. I have over 500 rounds through them, and they are flawless.

Nice, but at 32.95 it's way to expensive. I paid 19.95 for each of the five 8 round mags I got for my Shield. For now, I'll throw an extra 8 round mag in my pocket. The money I'd spend magguts will pay for lots of ammo.
