Default M&P9 m2.0 Trigger

Hello, i have an m&p9, i like the clean break and reset.
Over all i love the gun, after cleaning it and lubing it, took it out and fired couple hundred rounds without a single problem.

I am just starting IDPA shooting, and I think the m&p is the perfect pistol for it. The only thing that i don't care for is the long trigger pull.

My question is, what do i need to replace to get rid of all the unnecessary pull before the break? or what competitive trigger kit would be suitable for my needs without having an extremely light trigger?

I know an Apex Trigger changed all the distances in my trigger on my SD9VE dramatically (as it was supposed to). Takeup, overtravel and reset.

Look into it for your application

DISCLAIMER EDIT: Reading Ray (below) brought to mind that I should mention I do NOT know IDPA rules & regs

Technically that pre-travel or take-up in the trigger isn't unnecessary, it actually serves a purpose. It disengages internal safety mechanisms.

You might look into the Apex FSS (forward set sear) kit. It should give you what you're looking for.

Also, check the rules before you change anything. If you replace the actual trigger itself with one of the Apex units it will bump you from SSP into ESP and you might find the competition in that division a bit stiff.

Thumbs up

I own an M&P 2.0 .40 caliber. The trigger is awesome! IMO, it needs no work at all.
There is a member on here that did an APEX spring kit (I'm pretty sure it was a spring kit; it could have been the sear) but said he removed it because it didn't do a thing for the trigger. And, I can believe it! S&W listened to the people (Except for Dad_Roman ) and did the 2.0 trigger perfect, IMO.

I run a box stock M&P 2.0 in IDPA SSP. The thing is stupid accurate, tracks flat, and the grip texture makes handling and manipulation easy and positive.

I've run many different pistols in IDPA over the years and the 2.0 is one of only two pistols that I've used that I felt I didn't need to tinker with. The other was my VP9.
