Default Shield slide back plate?

Has anybody tried this particular back plate for the shield? I'm curious how fit and finish is.

Another case of total discrimination nobody makes the backplate for the Shield 45.

Nice looking plate but I'm a little shocked at the price!
Would be nice to have matching rear sight too

How will that improve your shooting?

Back plates are a dime a dozen. I'd like to see a T-handle back plate to aid my RA weak grip.

It doesn't, I would like to add a little bit of my own spin on the gun without altering the functionality, right now. Does anybody know of any other companies that make aluminum back plates?

Does it get in the way for IWB carry or get caught on anything?

This reminded me of my VP9. Before I handled one or purchased mine, I thought those little tabs at the rear of the slide were kind of silly. Now that I have used them, I wish someone offered something similar for other pistols as well. I love those things. And I'm still healthy and have a good grip.

The TacRack looks like it would be painful to operate with those sharp ends. And not enough grip area. I don't want to fiddle around trying to rack it on a belt or holster. Thanks, I guess I'll stick with the cupped hand over the top.

Looks really good in the package when it first arrives. But unfortunately sending back.
YMMV

I found another back plate mfr and they make their product out of T6 aluminium. https://www.bastiongear.com/collecti...-shield?page=9

I think those are for people who are everyday packers, And are afraid of losing their toy.

Reminds me of when people say to you. You better strap a 2×4 to your ☆SS before going in there.

Kind of a safety device for their "6".

NDZ's description says their plates replace the plastic factory one, and that they are hard anodized. Sounds like they are aluminum ?
That sucks that they discolor so easy.

Yes... They are aluminum, not plastic.
Strange to hear about the discoloration on dkals... Mine has not discolored (that I've noticed anyway), but it wouldn't bother me if it did.
Of course... My 2012 vintage Shield is now FAR from showroom quality.

Just to go completely off topic here...

People often misuse the word "vintage" to denote old. This is because wine is aged prior to being sold and good wine is never sold the same year it is produced. Therefore, the vintage is the year the grapes were harvested, pressed and bottled.

It is correct to say that your new Shield is a 2017 vintage. Another way to say it is, "My Shield is of the 2012 model year." It's just easier to say, "It's a 2012 vintage Shield." It doesn't mean it's old.

Well... The more emails they get about wanting a Shield45 plate, the quicker it may come to be. Many won't bother to go through the design, tool and production start up costs fo something that may not sell.

Get all your friends to do an email campaign.

Sorry for saying they were plastic. The back plate from NDZ did not feel like aluminum. Maybe I'm losing one of my senses.

The shield .40 is my EDC. I have the modified slide plate with the racking tabs. The plate itself is pointless and will make your fingers bleed more then assist you in racking your slide. The tabs are to small to get a good grip. However, im in a wheelchair and need a good way to rack the slide if an arm goes down and they do provide a good alternative to sight racking. The back plate doesn't get in the way in regards to IWB but it will get in the way of your rack.

I contacted NDZ about a slide back plate for the Shield 45 and this is their reply,

Good Morning,

Thank you for contacting our offices. We are in the works of designing one. Once we do test fitment and everything fits and works out we will be listing them. We are not sure at this time when they will be done.

Sincerely,

Mike

Sounds like a 'canned' reply that means "Maybe Some Day"... Especially when it includes 'We are not sure at this time when they will be done.'

Keep checking and ask friends to do the same (even those that don't have a Shield45).
