Default M&P 2.0 laser sight

Having recently gotten a S&W M&P M2.0 in 9mm for my bedside gun, I picked up a lower priced laser/light combo while I decide which laser/light combo I really want.
I've looked at Crimson Trace and a few others. The ones I think I want attach to the short rail under the barrel. I like the idea of a white light in the combo to better ID the target. My last bedside gun was a S&W model 15 police rev. and it wears a Crimson Trace Laser grip but without a light too.
The one I got (Laserspeed USA) with a light combo works fine, so far, but I see reviews that say it does not hold zero well. The 9mm may not have that issue, but I don't know what gun or caliber generated the bad reviews. I'm thinking I want one with good reviews.
Who has any good suggestions on combos that will fit the S&W M&P M2.0 in 9mm of higher rated lasers?
I like a laser because I don't need to hold it lined up to my eye to put it on target, that just seems much safer in a home invasion situation.

I played with cheaper lasers and eventually bit the bullet (excuse the pun please) and went with the Viridian CL5, Viridian C5L Gun Laser Sights | Viridian Green Laser Gun Sights

They're not cheap at all but I've been plenty satisfied with the quality. I own three of them (M&P 9mm 1.0, M&P .22 and a Remington pump). I went with green but you can save a couple bucks on red (less visible in daylight).

If you are a serious shopper, you can find factory refurbs or open package models for much less than the full retail price.

I have the Streamlight TLR-6 on my M&P 2.0 5" FDE. Was easy to install and stays on target. Light & laser is mode switchable.

I've always had good luck with Streamlight. The TLR-6 hdskullfire2 mentioned is probably a solid option. Currently have one ordered for my 2.0 as well..

Maybe I'm missing something, but I really want the advantage of a green laser which shows up far better in daylight if that need arises, I don't think Streamlight offers the TRL-6 in green (yet?)

You never mentioned you wanted a green laser. You only said a light combo.

I didn't know that they made a TLR-6 for the full size M&P.

I guess I am devil's advocate in this thread, but I just have to speak up. I do not think having a white light on the gun is a good idea. Here is why. Let's say you aim it at a person in your house in the dark. The person has a gun and quickly aims at the light and fires. Good chance you are getting hit in a bad spot.

Have a flashlight and point it at the perp while holding it away from your body and worst case you get shot in the hand.

Now let's go outdoors at night. There is suspicious movement in your vicinity. You want to see what it is so you switch on the light. Problem is when you spot a person you are pointing a gun at them. If they have no visible visible deadly weapon, you may have committed a crime. Here in PA, if you are going to point a gun at someone, you better be sure you see a deadly weapon.

With a flashlight you can keep your gun holstered while you look around. If you have to shoot, you can use a cross arm method. I will explain based my being RH dominant.

With flashlight in left hand and my left forearm crossing in front of me so that the light extends past my right side and arm, I place my right arm with drawn gun across my leftmif what I see requires an armed response. The left adds support in case it is necessary to fire. The extension of the left arm keeps the white light target away from your body. OK that was my 2 cents in a 4 cent wrapper.

I agree.. and for this reason I have a few PD36 Fenix lights stashed in my home. Rail light is a last ditch backup as far as I'm concerned.. and being able to deke an aggressor with a secondary flashlight to bring them out of darkness is a beautiful advantage.

Those reasons stated for not having a white light on the gun are exactly why I said I would hold the gun off to the side, not line the sight up to my eye (or my body). Maybe I'm all wet but that seems like a good option. In my case, where I lay in bed, in relation to my gun and the stairs where an intruder would approach (they would need an extension ladder to come in a window), I'd also be holding the gun in my off hand. To hold the gun in my strong hand off set from my body, I'd be holding it in front of my wife, not a choice for me)
My biggest hope is that no such scenario ever happens. My current bedside gun wears a red laser grip and I have a very bright (read blinding) flashlight, but with that set up it will require 2 hands and it seems like it would take longer to execute.

If you are comfortable with it, thenit is good. I hope you nor any of us ever have to put our Home SD plan in action.

I just like the idea of having the option to use the light, green laser, both, strobe or nothing.

Did you mean 69273? (The one for the Shield)? Their website didn't list 69273.

****CORRECTION**** I found it. Thanks.

I have, and really like, the Streamlight TLR 2G. It's a little bigger, but no problem. Instant flash or constant .... intermittent flashes toward floor, until target identified. Did I say I really like this product?
