Default Shield slide not always locking back

My shield 9mm only seems to lock back 50 percent of the time. Any ideas why? Things to check?

Get it to lock back with empty mag and leave it locked back for a few days. That will loosen the spring. Worked on my 45 Shield

Watch that your thumb isn't riding on the slide lock. If it is then the slide won't lock back on the last shot.

Ding! As I read that, I grabbed the gun. That's exactly it. I do the same wth my other gun too. Thank you. Now I know it's not gun issue

Very easy to have your thumb ride the lever on the Shield especially if you have large hands .. that's why I like the slightly larger Shield in 45 over the 9mm and 40 Shield .. not sure what the size difference is but it is noticeable enough while holding it to tell the difference ..

yup, riding the slide with a right handed grip is super easy on the shield. I'm glad I'm left handed so my grip automatically excludes that.
