Summer savings promo value theory
I estimate the promo would be worth more on a Shield 45 vice a 9mm or 40.
The 45 mags and ammo would be more expensive than the other calibers.
Any thoughts?

Maybe so but I wouldn't base my choice on that. You have to buy ammo long term so it should be the caliber you want down the road and not a few bucks difference at purchase. JMHO.

I imagine quantity pricing makes things equal on the accessories. Personally I don't need extra mags, or a loader or the the ammo would rather have an instant credit
Other manufactures are doing the same with accessories, again none of that is a value adder for me and hasn't been for my type of shooting.

Any or all, you still have 75 bones in your pocket.

Cash rebate is not back for most of us
Cabela's does business in some states with ammo transfer restrictions- buyers residing in those states can still get $75.

I wish it was an instant rebate, right off the top at the store. Or one that they will transfer money into your checking account somehow right away. Then I could go buy more stuff. Maybe put the money twords another M&P.

Time value of money. You give 'em full price today, they give you cash back in 4-6 months. With no interest. It's the financially smart move if they can use the money profitably before they pay it to you, and if the cost of administering the program doesn't eat up the benefit.
There may also be corporate financial reasons to prefer higher sales receipts with higher expenses (rebate) than just have lower sales receipts (discount at purchase), but those would probably be unique to the specific circumstances at S&W today. I was never in corporate finance, so can't speculate on details.
