Default Another Shield PC range visit w/ a little distance

Seeing another thread about accuracy at more than defensive distances with a Shield, thought for grins I would give it a try. My disclaimer, only been shooting for 5 yrs and all shooting the past 3 has been 10 yards and less due to the range i use. Oh add in average skill and ****** grandpa eyes. There all my excuses are on the table lol.

With my usual range closed till fall, thought i would visit the local LEO training center for my first time this am (public hours on weekends).
Pic shows 2 targets. All standing and all using 115fmj ammo.
The small one is at 7 yards which i have good confidence in with my PC Shield. I can be pretty decent and consistent in the 6-10 yd range.
The larger target was a mix of 20-25 Yds. Not real good but guess all things considered (see above disclaimers haha) I wont complain.

I normally would use my other handguns at the longer distance but again out of curiousity had to try this with the Shield. So thought Id share my results good or bad. And its always fun to run thru ammo at the range. After 1200+ rounds, just love the PC.

Nice shooting at 7yd line! Actually nice shooting at the 20-25yd line too!
Is that small top circle 2 or 3in and how big is the big target?

Guess I will have to try some at 50ft next time I hit the indoor range with my 45 Shield.

That's VERY nice shooting at 25 yards. My range has a plate rack that I like to engage at various distances, the longest being about 35 yards. I think the plates are 8", and I do NOT knock them down regularly with my Shield 9.

Yet. I can put 'em down every shot, magazine after magazine, with my Makarov, which has a single action trigger. In addition, it has tiny sights which, when I can see 'em, provide very precise aiming. (It's why I stopped using it as my daily carry gun - the sights are very hard to pick up in a hurry.)

So I'm thinking I just have to get dialed in with the Shield's sights and, to a lesser extent, trigger. I've only had it for about a month now, and at short range it's frequently close to a one-hole wonder. It's only the long range stuff where I've still got work to do in the accuracy department.

One thing I can readily admit to, somewhat new to me but likely common sense for many. That shorter distances can be a little 'forgiving' if one's grip/stance/form is a little off or unsteady.
Take that distance out and those errors can grow.

So one good thing about playing around at 25 yds, it helped show me that I should work on my form and not just accuracy (if that makes sense). Kinda like playing golf, you can just tell if a shot feels right or not.....

Great work. I may try moving further down range (atleast with a mag or 2). I normally shoot with target at about 5-7 yards also. Maybe i will try with BG380 too (if 380 ever goes on sale)

Thx. I mainly tried it for fun, knowing thats not necessarily what the Shield is designed for. But a few rounds of experimentation is never a bad thing. I'd rather learn my limitations at the range than in real life lol
