Help! Need input on Bodyguard 380!
Just purchased my Bodyguard and I love it! Makes conceal carry confident and easy and safe. It's like a companion!
The only issue I have is that even with the slightly extended grip extention on the magazine, I only can fit two fingers which makes rapid follow up shots inaccurate.
I bought some alternatr grip extensions from Amazon that fit and feel perfect for grip but every time I fire, the mag releases!! I do not have this problem with either of the other mag caps; I figure it must have to do with extra pressure on the mag while firing.
Anybody else have this problem, and if so, is there a better fix?
Or, even better, is there a better extended mag besides the Promags that aren't very good?
Thanks!

*I should also note the problem does not have to do with accidentally pressing the mag release button; somehow, when firing, the mag is pulled back far enough so that the catch itself released. Thanks again!

I bought one, and sold it after dry firing it once. It is the only pistol I ever had where I had to push the magazine release down partially to insert a magazine. I think the pistol is junk. I bought a Ruger Custom LCP. Shoots great, has much better trigger pull, inserts magazine as all my other pistols do, and generally a better gun. Now the Ruger has been upgraded, but I like mine for carry around the farm. When off of my property I carry a 45.

I had a BG 380 w/o the laser and no safety
It was OK.
I sold it and kept my LCP. LCP was just a bit better for me for pocket carry.
I got slide bite from the BG every now and then which bugged me. And I had a couple light primer strikes.

S&W Bodyguard
Nice little gun but requires some fiddling, but shouldn't be necessary. Sent mine back, KC serial, wouldn't feed last round. Ok now, brute of a little beast firing. If you think that's bad, try firing a Walther PPS in 380

Purchased my no laser BG .380 in Feb. 2014 and it ran fine for over 800 rounds then began the light strike problem every now and then which worried me to say the least. Ultimately I got rid of the gun and went with the Gen 2 LCP (not the LCPII). That developed misfeed problems after awhile so I finally went back to carrying a J frame. Got the 340PD, about the same weight as the LCP, and that's become my EDC. The 340PD passed the ultimate carry test when I pocket carried it in dress slacks absent any printing problems.

I have hundreds of rounds through my BG 380 and it has a perfect record. That is good enough for me. I love that little weapon. With Fiocchi hollow points it really packs a punch.

What it sounds like is the mag catch is not engaging fully due to the extension not allowing the mag to insert fully or it's possible the catch is damaged. They're made of polymer (plastic) and can easily break if the mag binds on it and you try to slam it home like many shooters do.
I'd start by removing some material from the extension where it contacts the grip when inserted. This should let the mag go beyond seated so the catch will engage completely. Next, take a look at the catch(release) and make sure it's not damaged, see pic below.
Now, if your mag binds when inserting, you need to radius and polish the corner so it can slip by easily or it will eventually damage the catch. A nail file works well or, some fine sand paper. See pic, the right mag has been polished, the left one has not for comparison.

Great suggestion! I'll try filing those grip extensions down; maybe that will do the trick!
I really do love this gun. I've fired the Ruger LCP and it's a terrific gun but the Bodyguard just feels like a companion (and has features I want).
The mag catch is smooth going in - sometimes I wonder if it's too smooth! My 1911 has a coil spring that can sort of adjust the tension on the mag release; the Bodyguard has a sort of leaf spring that I'm not sure can be adjusted. If it could, I would increase tension and see if that fixed it.
Well, time to grind I guess! Thanks again!

Love mine ( w/o the laser). Recent model. Took a couple hundred rounds to find the ammo it likes best. So after nearly 500 hundred rounds with no issues what-so-ever using Hornady American Gunner, I'm a fan
