Default I bought it after all.

Wasn't sure if I was going to purchase a .45 Shield, since finding a good OWB holster is difficult, and Bravo Concealment doesn't seem to have one. However, Amazon seems to have quite a few and I couldn't beat the price with factory night sights and three magazines at $455 out the door. Feels awesome in the hand, that's for sure. It's a compliment to my 9mm Shield, which also has factory night sights. Got that for $400 even out the door and then a $75 mail-in rebate. Now to send in the rebate for the two magazines and ammo. (Sorry for the lousy pics, this camera doesn't take good pics at all.)

Enjoy your 45 shield. IMHO, it is hands down the pick of the litter in the shield line.
I know some holsters for the 9mm shield will fit the 45 version. Certainly with the popularity of the 45 Shield spiking, holster manufactures will catch up soon. Worse case, take that rebate and order a custom one.

Congratulations!
I have the Shield.45 with 226 rds through it. I love the way it shoots for this 86 year old man!

Now that I have handled the 45 Shield, I just don't think the grip texture is for me. I put a rubber sleeve on it and it makes it too thick. I do not want to use anything to smooth it out, as I don't want to deface my gun, so it looks like it will be sold off before I even get out and shoot it.

I'd suggest that you at least give it a chance at the range. I tried one at a rental place, just to confirm my decision years ago to not shoot anything bigger than 9mm/38 Special, in deference to my ageing joints. But I was shocked - SHOCKED - to discover that it was no more uncomfortable on joints or hand than the 9mm Shield I enjoy so much. Every bit as accurate, and a real hoot to shoot. (It's been a long time since I've seen such big holes in a target.)

The stippling on the 45 grip is indeed more "aggressive" than on the 9mm model when you hold 'em side by side, but I never noticed it while shooting.

I don't really NEED a larger caliber carry gun (I have LOTS of 32 Mag, 38 Special and now 9mm carry guns), I don't need to get back into reloading for 45 with its large primers (all of the other calibers I reload use small primers) and larger, more expensive bullets, and I don't need to go looking for a new holster. But man, after shooting one I sure do WANT a 45 Shield, and the one you picked up is exactly the package I'd want - it's the same one I got with my Shield 9.

And if you took yours to the range, I'd bet that you won't want to get rid of yours, either.

I have decided not to take it out to my range. I have seen also now how the grip tears up clothing, as my 9mm M2.0 did. So it's down the road with this. I talked it over, and I will loose more money on it (even if it's only $20) if I actually shoot it.

There are 45acp cases out there that take small pistol primers. I've never owned any, but I have seen and handled one. I don't recall the headstamp brand and have no further details.

It is supposed to be, but seemed a little bit tamer. Once I had it side by side, I realized it is the same. I felt/saw what I wanted to see, and made an impulse purchase.

How about trying an $18 rubber Talon decal? That might smooth out the grip for you without adding any thickness. They're as easy to remove as apply.

Tears up clothing ?
I'm just not understanding how some think, the stippling is just right, it's not like it's 40 grit sandpaper.

I've had ordinary checkering on wood grips of concealed carry guns wear a thin spot on the sweaters I usually use as cover garments in cooler weather. If the grip rides where normal arm movements will go over it, pressure from the arm can pinch the fabric of cover garments against the checkering and arm movement will slowly wear away at the fabric. It took several seasons for the fabric to wear to the point where I pitched the sweaters, but it DID happen.

No it's not like 40 grit sandpaper....I'd say more like 220 grit on bare skin! Same reason I'll rarely carry the 2.0...

With my full size 2.0, it happened in two days.

At any rate, the Shield has been put up for sale.

Jeppo, I gave mnarcher similar advice in another thread:

I don't have a Talon on my Shield .45, because I really like the factory grip. But that's just me. If you Talonize your Shield and give it a chance, I think you'll find it's one of the best compact self-defense pistols on the market. For its size, its accuracy is superb. Run at least 500 rounds through it, and you'll likely come to the same conclusion that most of us on the Forum have: It's a great pistol.
The Talon grip will solve mnarcher's problem with the Shield .45, but he seems to be bound and determined to get rid of it without ever knowing what a fine pistol it is.

If I could get $450 for a gun Bud's is selling for $410 (and keep all the rebate goodies), I'd do the same.

I wouldn't give Buds Guns a red cent. I will make sure the buyer gets all the mail-in rebate goodies. I don't like the idea of sticking things to my guns. I want night sights and that's it. And a grip plug on my Glocks. But other than that, stock guns. I am used to my Glock 19/23/32, so that could be part of it.

$410 is "Qualified Professional" price, for police/LE/Security officers, first responders.
