Thinking about getting a new pistol, looking at the M&P45c and I noticed there are no 2.0 versions available in the compact 45.

Am I missing something?

It just might take the place of my favorite Glock 19.

There isn't enough different about the 2.0 to make sense to wait until they decide to make one in the compact size. The 45c is the perfect size. Small enough to be easy to conceal, but large enough to be easy to manipulate.

I agree 100%, perfect size.

I guarantee the 2.0 would come out the day after I buy a standard 45c (and Apex kit and textured backstrap). Same day if I bought it in the morning.

You'll still be in the parking lot digging your keys from your pocket.

I held a M&P45 2.0 at an LGS. It was okay but not sure there was enough difference/improvement to make me want to give up any of my 3 M&P45s.

Then you should go buy it so the rest of us can start enjoying the 2.0 version sooner.

Seriously, even if that did happen, there's no reason to not buy the 45c now. It's still one of the best pistols on the market.

Not to muddy the waters here but I would recommend that you check out one of the Shield 45's before deciding. Smaller, lighter, very accurate, and only loses one round to the compact.

What's not to like about the "old 1.0" 45C?
Mine is just a joy to shoot and carry.
You won't see me standing in line to trade off any of my "old" 1.0s

And it doesn't have interchangeable back straps. And it doesn't have ambi slide stop. And the grip is smaller. And it's more difficult to manipulate. And the sight radius is smaller. And it doesn't have a picatinny rail.

No, there's a lot more different between the guns than just losing one round (two rounds with the flush mag).

Yes, the Shield 45 is a good little gun, but the 45c is better.

Don't for get about the 10 and/or 14 round magazines the compact is capable of using.

Never said the Shield was any better only that he should check one out. Is it being suggested that the OP should limit his choices based on others personal preferences. Picatinny rails are great if you want one but useless if you don't. If the grips fit your hand then backstraps are also. As is the ambi slide stop. I'm sure the 45c is a great little pistol but it doesn't mean something else couldn't also be suitable.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Shield is garbage. It's the best of the tiny guns. There's just more to the differences than one less round.

And, yes, it's my opinion that the 45c is better. The OP may indeed find the Shield fits his purposes better.

I have not personally handled the 45 Shield, and I'm sure it's a fine firearm, but in general the Shield's grips are a little too narrow for my tastes. I have a mid-size M&P45, same gun as the 45c but a full size grip, and I love it. It's just hard to conceal that extra .75 inches of grip. I've considered making a "chopper" but don't have the guts to do it. Would rather buy a correct carry gun and leave the mid-size a bedside gun. The 45c will also fit my existing holster. The 2.0 model would save me the trouble (and $) of installing the Apex trigger kit, and possibly have a better grip texture, so I would prefer that option if possible.

I just prefer these sized guns,the commander sized 1911, BHP,the mid sized glocks, the M&P 45c. To me going smaller means going CM9/XDS pocket size guns.

My 45c sits right now with a 10 round mag with sleeve inserted. It is just really hard to beat. My privateer leather IWB holds it securely and discreetly. I have a single mag pouch, want to get a double at some point.

It is soft shooting for a lightweight 45. I have considered either doing the burwell mods or Apex drop in. But I shoot is well as is. My last range outing with I grouped the best with it out of 4 guns.

What I would love is for Smith to make this gun in 10mm. They would sell If to no one else other than me.

Don't want to be nosey but I'm curious. Can't get one due to California law? Would not surprise me if that's the case. I have not been following that saga since I moved outta there in '05. As an off-road motorcycle enthusiast, I used to frequent the desert very near Edwards quite a bit. I miss the desert.

And there is no 2.0 compact in the works either. Might as well get the full size ones available.

That is the case. The only way for me to get one would be to do a private party transfer for a used one. The last one of those I saw sold for $800 and I'm just not willing to pay that. Not to mention you just don't ever see them for sale.

Sorry to hear this. I would "like" your post, but I don't like what a mess CA has become. Let's instead hope that sanity returns to the golden state.

I hope so, but I think the sanity train has left the state. This is a beautiful state and it has been ruined through legislative action that supports...never mind. Suffice it to say that one day I hope to move out. I will weep on that day because the countryside here is so spectacular.

My best friend from my Air Force days grew up in Riverside, went to UCLA, served 4 years with me at Beale AFB north of Sacramento, and spent the rest of his working life in and around Carlsbad, north of San Diego. His wife is a lifelong Californian, too, and they have children who live there. But he just retired and they moved to Tennessee, and say it is like a giant weight has been lifted off of them. If they wept when they left, they haven't mentioned it in their emails.

CA is full of gorgeous country, but I fear it would take a lot of carefully sized and placed neutron bombs to make the place livable again for rational people.
