5" Pro Series Failure to Feed Issue
Hello everyone first post. Wondering if anyone can help me out? I have a new (400rds) M&P pro that I bought specifically for IDPA esp. I switched mag release to lefty because I also shoot a vp9 in SSS and use my middle finger of my right hand to release the mag. So here's the issue... I am getting failure to feed and stove-piping on the second round if I only load 6 rounds in the mag. The gun seems to cycle fine if the mags are loaded to max capacity. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I don't have that pistol but I would suggest the following. The magazine lips are not properly tweaked preventing proper feeding. I would disassemble the magazine, clean and lightly lube. Make sure the follower is free of burrs or sharp edges. It might be hanging up.
It wouldn't hurt to polish the feed ramp. It might be a bit rough or a bit dirty.

Within the 400 rounds ran thru it, has all ammo been reloads or any been new/brand name? Just curious if the issue could be tied to ammo at all (to narrow it down)

Did you just recently swap the release over?
Grab a mag you've had this issue with. Load 6 rounds, DO NOT insert into weapon. Look at the mag notches for the release. It the follower pressed up against the inside of the mag body?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I haven't had any time today to monkey around with it but will post when I figure it out. Yeah all rounds have been reloads so far. I tried some of a buddies as well with same issue. It's not a new recipe at all... I have put approx. 5000 of the same loads through my HK without issue and they run fine in my shield.

Yeah It was the first thing I did when I bought it. So no way to tell except switching it back. Will try your suggestion as soon as I have a chance thanks!

Quickest way to narrow down the possibilities is to swap the release back to the other side. If the problem goes away, you know where to focus, if it doesn't, you've eliminated one possibility.
