M&P sights

Hi All
I just bought the new M&P 2.0 and have about 3000 rounds through it now. I really want to upgrade the sights and this gun will be strictly for the range and some competitions. What have you found to be the best sights for competing with the M&P? I really like fiber optic and I'm familiar with many of the popular brands. But, I don't know how much they compare. All I know is that the 10-8 sights aren't as bulky as the others.

I own an SD9 with the HI-VIZ sights installed from the factory. They are very good during the daytime.
My LE Trade in M&P .40 has Trijicon night sights on it. Those things are practically bright enough at night to be used as a flashlight.

And, they are great during the daytime hours as well.
I also have used the XS-BIG DOT sights. Those are great for quick draw and/or target shooting.

I don't do competition, but I love my TruGlo TFX Pro's. They have fiber optice, tritium and the orange around the front sight like Trijicon HD. Best of all worlds imhop.

My set up is a surrounded lime/green front Trijicon that works great. Very bright. But, I've personally found for the long distance shots on paper, or steel poppers, a thin fiber optic works best. Less room for error, more precise. Most competition shooters I see use the thin f/o front.

I use all three of mine for compitions. Full size, compact, and shield. All have Dawson fiber optic sights. Can't go wrong with them.

I use a Green fiber optic HiViz front sights on my carry guns. Fast sight acquisition and contrast is a big plus for me. I don't do much night time gun fighting anymore.

Thanks Catman2. Did you have to do any filing to fit the Dawson? Just curious, what made you choose the Dawson over the 10-8 sights? Price and guarantee?

I believe all Dawson sights are oversized, so some filing will be necessary. I installed FO on two M&Ps. Watch their video, take your time.

I installed with a brass punch and hammer (as Dawson recommends), the hard part was removing the original sights. Installation was easy, but take your time.

Very slight filing needed. They are very bright and they have a selection of different heights and widths depending on what your preferences are.

My M&Ps have Hi-Viz, Dawson Precision, or 10-8 fiber optic front sights on them. The 10-8s are the smallest and the Hi-Viz the largest. All three are fine. I've used green and red fiber optic rods and can't say I have a preference either way.

I shot the trijicon HD's for a while and they are awesome. Easy pick up and also work in low light. However at a distance like past 15yds they cover the target. For example the front sight would completely cover the plate on a plate rack. I tried the TFX's on one of my guns and didn't like it. They have the top slot for the fiber. I found that unless the sun was in the right place on the range, they varied in brightness. I now have all 3 of my M&P's with Dawson sights. They are great for competitive shooting. I understand that trijicon now makes a slimmer version of the HD. That could be worth a look.

These look pretty sweet. I can tell even from the website that site acquisition is absolutely amazing. But, I agree. The front dot looks like it's a little on the large side.
Ill have to call Trijicon and ask about the smaller version of the HD XR because I can't find it on their site & I agree...that wud be worth looking at.

Everyone seems to choose Dawson over 10-8. I find that very interesting.

Yes it is HD XR. If you look at the specs you can see the difference in size between the regular HD and the XR. I think most people go with Dawson because you have the ability to mix and match so many different combos of sizes. Plus the way them bulb the fiber makes it focus the light a little more so they "look" brighter

My MP .40 LE trade in 1.0 has Trjicon night sights on it. There is an M&P logo in the center of the rear sight. I have searched the interweb to no end looking for these night sights. Why can't I find them? My MP was manufactured 11/2015, so I'm guessing they are less than 2 years old? I even checked the S&W website. They're not there either. Anyone know where I can find them? Yes, I know there are other night sights out there, but I WANT these!
