3 month Shield 45 range report
Three months since I got my new favorite, and we went to the range today for the 7th or 8th time. It shot flawlessly, and since a friend was there with a rest, we tested the sights (eliminating my pistolero skills from the mix). It was dead on at 15 yards.
I then shot about 100 rounds of 230gr ball (American Eagle, Freedom Munitions and others that were in the 45 range bag) and it never hiccuped on its own. I will say that the mags are a tight fit for ball ammo and banging the back of them on your palm after loading them is a must!
I also shot 20 rounds of Federal HST (my carry ammo) and I shot it better than the ball. So I'm at around 750 rounds and no problems.
For what it's worth, my range buddy who is mostly a bench-rest shooter shot it off hand and said "that's sweet". He also let me shoot his recently acquired Model 41 and it was amazing!

I've had mine about 4 months. It's a nice shooter. 539 rounds through it without a hiccup.
ETA: Oh......I forgot, the recoil spring assembly came apart when I got home from the first range trip, but it's fixed now.

Exactly mirrors my own experience. A little over 900 through it now, the first 700 of ball right outa the box with no takedown , cleaning and lubing, or even a wipe down. Also use the HST's which are equally flawless. Won't be carrying anything else for some time to come. It's a home run from S&W.

3 month Shield 45 range report
Well look out for this.
Seems several reports of it.
Mine has over 1500 rounds down the pipe.
Shot it last weekend. Took it down as usual.
When I removed the spring biong. SW sending replacement. And Im ordering 2 spares at 6 bucks each. Love it and my 40shield first issue with either.
Had to put my 4516-2 in to service for awhile. A little heavier but close enough dimensions to fit in shield holsters.

6.50 from SW.
Call 1-800-331-0852 ext 4125. The part number is 3001613. It is $6.50.
Straight from email response asking SW for the replacement and if I could acquire spares.

What I thought when I would see these before mine exploded.
Its "drama" til its YOU.
SW seems to know some problems exist
As they send it out simply by you contacting them no ? asked except your name and address.

Texas40,that 4516 is a great little 45 also. Mine was wrecked beyond recognition in a house fire many years ago and I never replaced it. Wish I still had it. Great shooting pistol.

Mine has been flawless as well. I thought these things would fly off the shelves and be the major topic for the forum, but I haven't seen that. I've modded every M&P I have with Apex, but the 45 really doesn't need it. The only thing I'd change is night sights, but I'm not ponying up another wad of cash for a one use MGW sight pusher. I already have four for other pistols...
