Default New Shield 9mm malfunction

I took my brand new Shield 9mm to the range and the first two rounds jammed and stuck the slide open. I couldn't get the gun to close. Returned to the dealer and they sent it back to S & W. It took 7 weeks to get it back. Taking it out to the range today but I have to say, I question it's reliability for concealed carry. Anyone experience anything like this?

You got it back? Does it work? If it works then what's the problem? All guns will malfunction. It's not a matter of if but when! Have you ever had to repair your car and if so did you trust it afterwards?

My 9mm shield was a bit inconsistent through the first 200 rounds. It worked itself out and I fully trust it now. Unfortunately it takes back seat to my .45 shield...

Although I have over 800+ flawless rounds thru mine, I discovered that it really didn't shoot that great until I had about 300 or so rounds thru it. After that, it's been nothing but a pure joy to shoot.

Make sure it is fully lubed up
Shoot it 200 rounds

I bet you will get 200 rounds without any bobble

What does the repair return paperwork say S&W did to the pistol?
Sticking open can be the barrel rubbing against the slide due to stacked tolerances, which can require anything from some grease to a new barrel.
First thing I would do is clean and lube, then shoot it.

After buying my first Shield I noticed the magazine release was binding up. Come to find out the spring that held tension on it was bent. It couldn't be repaired due to being molded into the grip. I sent it back and it was an inconvenience but they replaced it with a new pistol. Of course they said they hadn't seen that happen before. That's the story of my life. New gun runs flawlessly.
