2.0 triggers different between models?
I was at a big box outdoors store and I was told that the 5" has an enhanced trigger over the 4.25". It is not the first time I have heard this. I must have missed it on the S&W website. Any truth to this? I was told that the 5" is set up for competition and the 4.25" for SD and carry. Any other differences?

Sounds like rubbish to me.
To the best of my knowledge, the 5" version of the 2.0 was S&W's entry into the military's MHS trials. Hence the FDE color and the thumb safety.
The original M&P 5" models were the pro series or performance center versions and did have some differences from the standard M&P.

I handled both sizes of the 2.0 in stores; and did not 'feel' any difference in triggers. Scientific? Nope. Just felt the same to me.
The 2.0 line is to have trigger improvements over the 1.0; I'd doubt they would do even more to one size and not advertise or promote it as such.

First I've heard of it, and I would imagine if one had a better trigger than the other S&W would surely use it as a marketing tool.

From what have seen the 4 and 5 inch have all the same insides ie sear housing and parts , trigger , locking block etc . The difference I see is the 5 inch has a bump up on the slide vs a peep hole for loaded chamber indicator .

if that employee was talking about the 2.0's, he doesn't know what he's talking about. they are most definitely the same trigger. And that wasn't even true with the 1.0's either. the only full sized M&P's that came stock with a different trigger were the performance centers and they sold those in both lengths as well.

It seemed like sales talk. I think I like the 5" more regardless. Thanks for the confirmation.

They're pretty awesome! I've been on a real kick lately with 5 in guns. I did take the safety off of mine since they don't offer the 5 in without at this point. I was able to hand fit a set of safety plugs from the 1.0's to fill the holes. One of them didn't need any filing and the other one only needed a little bit off the back so the sear block would fit in. I would have just gotten the ones for 2.0 but S&W still hasn't gotten off their butts and gotten the parts listed for sale.

I have a 2.0 5"9, PC 9, 9 compact. the 2.0 defiantly has a different trigger, it almost feels like a 2 stage, the trigger is pulled and it creeps till it feels solid than releases. It took some getting use to , but once learned it's nice.

Yes, the 2.0 differs from a lot of the 1.0's, just not from other 2.0's
