M&P 1.0 prices
Since my M&P9 FS is my go-to SHTF pistol, it occurred to me that a duplicate version might be a good idea in my nightstand. My main one sleeps in my office safe (in a detached garage) so it's hard to reach unless I'm at work.
I took a look on Gunbroker and was amazed. Lots of NIB 1.0s for $350 or less, no reserve. Some used ones with zero wear evident were under $300. I'm goin' shopping!

Check out current rebates and prices from some online sources, you might be able to get a new one real close to those numbers as long as you can wait for about 3-4 months on a rebate.

I had one small local shop offer a used 9 Shield for $300. I bought a new one at another local shop for $329 last week.

I picked up a new 9mm no thumb safety for $350 today at Academy. Asked them to price match Cabela's advertised price to save me a trip to Lubbock. Only the 9 without thumb safety is advertised for that price. The price is good through tomorrow only.
Haven't fired it yet, but I have dry fired it. The trigger feels a bit on the heavy side compared to my other pistols, but it is nice and smooth. I have to say I love the sights on this one, too. Nice bright white dots. They are 10x better than the sights on my CZ and my TriStar CZ clone.
I just finished filing for the rebate online. Smith is offering 2 magazines, a mag charger, and 2 boxes of Critical Defense ammo as a rebate now. Such a deal!

I got a new 40c w/ 3 mags (only expected 2) for $320 + $20 FFL fee a month ago and if you subtract the value of the extra and the rebate mags, ~$75 and the Critical Defense ammo, ~$40 (prolly wouldn't have ever bought the loader gizmo so won't count that), so I got a quality handgun for about 225 bucks.
I don't know that the expected 2.0 Compacts will be a big enough improvement to wait for or pay a premium for.

That's true with a lot of smaller dealers. A lot of them are still angry at the whole "Rebate" situation, leaving them with inventory they had paid more for than we bought ours for (after rebate.) Some on pawn. I know a large "small" dealer that says he is done with S&W. That $300 gun may have been one of those.....

Hmmm...I still can't get my head around the word "prolly."

Wise decision. I also believe in "3 is 2, 2 is 1 and 1 is none" although circumstances are putting 2nd M&P sometime away (probably after all the rebates go away ).

True, but my new M&P's qualify for the current mag/ammo/loader rebate which really sweetens the deal.

Paying $30.00 less for a used gun and 1 mag isn't a bargain. Break down and fork over the extra money for a new one and the rebate. You end up with 4 mags.
If you buy the used one you'll spend more than $30.00 for 3 mags

Just bought a Sig P320 with manual safety and just can't shoot it as well as I can my M&Ps.

I didn't say I was buying it. But, this S&W rebate deal WILL end one day and when it does, that $329 deal will sure look good.
BTW, I own the 1.0 & 2.0. I'm good.
