Default I'm a knucklehead...

I've swapped out the sights on M&P pistols numerous times, so I'm not a rookie but I played one tonight. In my excitement to put the Trijicon HD sights on my Shield, I forgot to remove the set screw and drove it right through the slide. Damn, that's one strong screw!! Remember kids, remove that set screw. At least it's only cosmetic I'm a knucklehead...

Well, at least you can say that you will never forget the screw again.

All I can do is sympathize, not with your specific knuckleheaded move, but I've made several others. And so have most others here, I suspect. You sure ain't alone! Some of my deals ain't near that easy to ignore ... sigh!

I've seen that before, and was able to repair it. Takes a small spot weld, file, paper and stone to recover the OEM contour. Then a nice coat of CERAKOTE Graphite Black, reassemble, and smile at the customer, telling him "nobody's any the wiser" hahaha

I'd say that was more a shovelhead move - you dug out a nice row on that slide.

: )

Just label it as a "mental hiccup" and move on. We've all had them, and no one was hurt this time.

And thanks for the reminder.

If you make a notch to match you'll have no need to remove the screw...LOL

The sights are great! Just mad at myself for missing something so simple. Then again, I've been doing a lot of work on Glocks and I don't have to remember to remove these silly extras like a set screw I'm a knucklehead...
