I am curious to know if this pistol is as shooter-friendly as the .45 Shield, particularly as regards the trigger pull. If it is, I might have to investigate further.

The few that I handled recently had a decent trigger, equivalent to what I had when I started on my 45 Shield. This is the next gun I am interested in purchasing too.
From what I learned and gained on my Shield 45 with some polishing and an Apex sear I am not too worried about getting one of these dialed in to my likings
Go for it!

Default M&P 2.0 Full Size

I'd give you my opinion, but mine has been at S&W for the last 6 weeks as it was broken out of the box M&P 2.0 Full Size
Long story, but bad locking block, couldn't get the slide off. My gunsmith (M&P armorer) had to beat it off with a rubber mallet. No idea how they got it on at the factory, because we couldn't do it by hand. Anyway, if and when I get it back, I'll probably dump it. I'm sick and tired of the **** QC coming out of S&W M&P 2.0 Full Size This is my third recent S&W purchase that has had issues and shipped back for repair.

I have a 4.25 9c. I have had it for a month, but haven't had a chance to shoot it. Hopefully next weekend. I already have TruGlo TFX Pro sights, Inforce Gen 3 APL and a Safariland 7ts duty holster. Hopefully I can tell you more next weekend.

Not sure if this helps or not, but my agency tested the full size 2.0 when we had trials for a new handgun to replace the original full size 45 M & P. It lost out to the Glock 17 which we carry now.

You can search on this site, as I pretty well enumerated all the problems we had with the M & P since day 1. Most of us had ours replaced several times. My understanding is that S & W didn't seem very receptive to our complaints about the original models.....that is until we were considering dumping it. Apparently then they gave us all the attention in the world. In my opinion, it just isn't worth considering when there are so many better guns to consider.

My two cents, for what it's worth.

I absolutely did not like the original M&P. I owned two of them. While they were both perfectly reliable I found the accuracy to be lackluster at best.

I now own a 2.0 and after only six hundred trouble free rounds I must say I really like it. In fact, I like it enough that I have made it my main IDPA gun. The grip texture is awesome and the accuracy is night and day different from my previous two M&P's.

I own one of these along with the shield and a couple of the 1.0 models as well. Various apex parts and plenty of experience with internals. Anything specific you would like to know?

I came to the M&P lineup late in the game after they had already made all of the improvements to the 1.0 so my views aren't soiled by the older models problems that people just cant let go of.

I think what we all need to remember is that most if not all platforms have had issues, and some being fairly substantial but the point is that technology moves on and problems get worked out. Yes theM&P's had bad triggers, lack of reset, bad barrel unlock timing and twist rate but guns like Glock which I also like also have a whole host problems as well over the years but they don't seem to be as publicized because the fan boys don't want to admit that the platform they jumped on all those years ago might be the one and only polymer god.

The last "generation" if you will of the 1.0 was really pretty good and the 2.0 is an improvement in most areas so if there's anything specific you would like to know... fire away!

If it was broken right out of the box, then why didn't you take it back to the retailer? Why should you have to try and fix something that came broken off their shelf?

That sounded odd to me too . I have a 9 mm 4" 2.0 that has been just fine for at least 200-300 rds . I dry fired it a lot with a laser ammo cartridge and sent it back for a firing pin replacement after it failed . They took care of it now back in working order . Some people seem to like to bash S&W . If you don't like it sell it get another brand . Lots of people own S&W's and they work just fine .

I had the 4.25" 9mm 2.0 since April and love it. Then i just got the 45 2.0 less than 2 weeks ago and its even better. Accurate and trouble free. Easy to pick up brass afterwards it is day and night compared to anything else. S&W did jt right this time around.

I've had my 2.0 5" FDE 9mm since June and I've got over 700 rounds through it and not one problem. It shoots as good as day one. Nice groups at 10 yards.. Cleans easy and field teardown is super easy. Only thing I want to add now is a set of night sights.. Trigger is great. Even a friend who shot it was taken back on the quality and feel of the the trigger on this gun. Heck even my wife likes that reset click..

Would I recommend it.. Yes..

Here's an image of mine. ( StreamLight is no longer mounted)

This was the very first out of box shots. I had not shot a pistol in many many years.. Not a bad grouping..!! I used 9mm 115gr Blazer Brass rounds.

I have the M&P 1.0 and 2.0, five inch , 9MM. I replaced the sears and barrels with Apex products. Both triggers are about 3.5 pounds and the accuracy is fine. However, the 1.0 is more accurate and has a nicer trigger.
