Default M&P Shield return for warranty work

Anyone lately who has sent their Shield M&P weapon back for work on the slide, barrel, feed ramp, recoil spring or a host of other issues I am seeing with this weapon have any ideas about turn around time or what you've experienced?

Just sent mine in last week.

Thank you.

My 9mm Shield was back in six weeks after having the slide release replaced. Worked great after that.

Last time I sent my Compact 22 in for repairs it took a tad over 5 weeks. This time when I talked to the CS guy. He said it would take at least 6 weeks do to the summer shut down at the time. He said all they had still working was staff to take calls and accept shipments.

Default Received acknowledgment today

My just purchased on 8/3/17 M&P 9 Shield was sent on the 8th and received by them 8/11. Received an acknowledgment via email today of its receipt and an RMA number. Don't know how long it will take to repair rear sight that was way off center.

Default Six weeks for me, too.

It took six weeks for me earlier this year. Fed Ex prepaid each way. It might seem like a long time for a person with only one handgun.

Why didn't you just drift it yourself? Remove the set screw and drive it over with a brass punch. Hope you're not waiting 6+ weeks for that M&P Shield return for warranty work

Was told 4 to 6 weeks. Sent mine in because the front dovetail seemed to big.. Won't hold an Ameriglo front sight. (same size as stock). The stock had a lot of residue on it so SW probably had to glue it in to cover their tracks. Not happy about the time frame.

Can't compare the 22 models with the rest. They're not made by S&W and have a different warranty process.

Did you shoot the gun or just send it in because you thought the sight was off? You do realize that the sight doesn't need to be in the exact center for the gun to shoot true, right?

I sent my Shield in a month and a half ago for my front sight off center. I finally called the other day to inquire and the person told me that the day it came in, S&W was on a two week shut down with a skeleton crew! HAHA.... my luck!

So regarding, why not drift it myself... I tried. Mine was not the rear but the front as I mentioned. But when I brought it to my FFL the owner of the shop bent two of his brass punches trying. He did to want to try a steel punch for fear of marring the slide.

My sample functioned flawlessly except for printing 1 or 2 inches left of POI. The guy on the phone confirmed it would have that left POI and said it was too bad they did not spend an extra few seconds making sure the front sight was centered.

The way I see it, this is one of the better designed guns and probably one of the highly mass produced gun these days. The price of that is some QC issues. Really looking forward to getting it back!
