New Owner M&P Shield 9
Hey guys. Wanted to drop a post to say hi. I have been looking for a carry piece for a long time and have done a ton of reading on here about the Shield. I have a Glock 19 but wanted something smaller. Was considering Glock (26 which I had in the past), Springfield, and Sig. Went to Cabela's and the sales guy handed me a Shield and I loved the hand feel. Rented one at a local range and loved the way it shot. Then I found this place and was convinced. I managed to score one at Bud's for $299 shipped and got a $75 rebate. Could not say no for $225! Also have a local friendly FFL, so the transfer was on the cheap. Here's some pics for clicks, gun, then weights without the mags, with 7rd, and with 8rd. The trigger is super smooth out of the box, so I will leave that alone for now. Only mod will be TruGlo FO night sights. Had them on my G26 and really liked them.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new purchase. I think the Shield will encourage you to carry when it may have been in inconvenient with the larger gun. I'm sure you'll enjoy the Shield.

Welcome to the forum. Get yourself a mag loader and you will have the perfect set up. Also the pinkie extender for the seven round mag.

I was just looking for that weight information last night. The Internet moves in mysterious ways.

I have a pinky extension for one of the 7rd mags. Not sure how I feel about it yet from a printing perspective. Clip draw should be here tomorrow and I will play with different spots when it arrives. I think the extensions will work fine for appendix carry, but I found that they print when I have it at 4 o'clock whereas the regular factory 7rd mag doesn't. Also got a leather IWB for when the clipdraw doesn't fit the bill.

Welcome. Congrats on your Shield, a great choice. I bought my 9mm Shield Performance Center last November and carry it all the time. I prefer carrying with the 8 round mag (fits my hand better.)

Thanks. The 8 round def fits the hand better. All boils down to conceal ability.

Welcome, I have two shield 9mm both bought before the rebates went into effect they were hard to find and cost considerably more when they first came out but none the less I really like mine. I normally carry mine with the shorter magazine because it's just more comfortable. I put Talon grips on both which make them a little easier to get a firm hold with the shorter mag.

Definitely found that the talon grip wrap helped with the shorter mag. Love mine even though I paid full price when it first came out. I use a galco IWB holster almost all the time.
