go with the PC. They get more individual attention and tuning apparently. I don't think the the pro series has the performance center sear. I think they just kinda clean up the original trigger system in the pro to make it a little better but a lot of reports I've seen say the pro trigger is no better than the original. the PC model also has the adjustable overtravel stop in the frame which is nice if you're gonna leave the trigger system stock because the M&P 1.0 system has a fair bit of over travel. you can get rid of some of it by tuning the trigger loop but its nice to have options.

Did a quick scan of the offerings from Pro Series and C.O.R.E. and it seems they are all "Pro Series". This means they are all equipped with standard actions with bolt-on modifications.

The trigger action should be bone stock.

On that note, my PC Shield has an outstanding trigger, as does my 2.0. The website marks the Pro Series as a step between the standard M&P and the Performance Center. I believe the sear is the difference. Thanks again!

My Pro9 5" 178010 has the exact same trigger as the C.O.R.E. I have the one set up for IDPA/SSP and USPSA Production. If you want to mount an optic, get the C.O.R.E. The slides are different, not the actions.
They settle down about 4 1/4# but can be pretty gritty at first, which is mostly the linkage and striker block.
It is NOT the same as either the 1.0 or the 2.0.

Just read on Smith's website both triggers described as the same.

Question

I have a Performance Center CORE and a Pro Series CORE. The trigger in the PC gun is horrible. The Pro Series trigger is much better. I'm reporting on my two guns which may/or not be true across the board.

I'm looking to change out my APEX trigger that Ive added to my M&P FS for something crisper and I think the CORE trigger is the ticket. Where can I get one to drop into my FS or is there something better beimg recommended these days? Thanks.

You want to get rid of your apex trigger? Did you just do the trigger shoe? Or did you do the whole system with sear and springs too? I only ask because if you have the whole kit, and properly installed, it doesn't really get any more "crisp" than the apex kits.

If all you did was change the trigger shoe, then you want to swap to the apex sear. With the M&P trigger system, most of the feel of the break is in the sear. The CORE models might have a different sear than the standard guns but still not like the apex.

I have specimens of each in 9mm(although 3-6 years old). I'd say the triggers are near identical. Better than stock but still could benefit somewhat from a Apex sear and additional polishing. ( Which I have done to my 40 Pro)

Before I purchased my Pro series I checked with Smith and Wesson. I was told they are the same trigger as the PC. The PC trigger is hand fitted and tuned when the Pro series is just put in like a standard model..
My Pro series trigger is excellent..

Both are very heavy for target shooting. Buy whatever pistol is cheaper and put an apex in.
