From what I can see the only difference between the standard M&P FS and the M&P Pro is the length of the barrel and slide. Am I correct on this. I found a really good price on an M&P40 Pro (do they still call it Pro) 5". Is there any difference other than the barrel and slide. I'm not a big fan of FDE or the safety but it is a really good price compared to buds or GB. Quite a bit less then even the standard FS. Thanks

The Pro Series M&Ps are Performance Center products, and thus have a much better trigger than the standard M&P line.

I may need to apologize for using the word "Pro". I sort of remembered that the 5" version was called the Pro model at one time. Looking again it seems that the term Pro is not being used. I changed my title to better describe my question. So, it looks like it's just the difference between a 4" barrel and a 5" barrel (and longer slide). Unless the frame is also different to accommodate the longer slide and barrel.

are you looking at the M2.0 FDE 5" gun with the thumb safety? I don't think they ever had a pro or performance center 5" .40 in FDE with a safety...

1.0 Frames are the same for 9mm\.40 4.25" & 5" guns and interchangeable. Meaning you can put a full .40 slide assembly on a lower that was purchased with a 9mm slide from the factory and vise versa. just use the correct mags. even that seems to be negotiable. I've seen some posters say they use .40 mags for 9mm and function just fine. .45's are strictly .45's though.

interchangeability between 1.0 and 2.0 is limited and not really verified yet.

as far as any other differences between 1.0 normal and performance center frames would just be the trigger. its supposed to be better but some seem to say thats not really the case. The performance center gun frames do also have an adjustable trigger over travel stop behind the trigger shoe but it doesn't tie into anything else to make it work differently

I just wanted to know if the frames are the same for both the 4.25" version of the m2.0 and the 5" version of the m2.0. I don't even plan on swapping anything. Just wanted to know.

My 5" Pro 9 did have a better trigger. It was acceptable but nothing special. I hadn't shot the FS standard trigger until about 5 months ago. I was shocked at how stagey and gritty it was.
All things are relative though and perhaps I've been ruined by great aftermarket triggers.

Ok. 2.0's are the same frame...no different options yet other than safety or no safety. triggers are the same and they don't use the 'pro' term on the 2.0's... the pro was a line of 1.0's that was supposed to be between the standard and performance center models.

The safety is very easy to remove. it just leaves the little cutout holes in the frame. you can get the plugs from S&W for 1.0 and it just takes a little filing on the back side of one of them to make it fit so the sear housing block will drop back in.

Eventually they will get off their butts and make the 2.0 parts available but until then at least there's the other option.

that being said though, I still don't really mind the newer generation stock M&P set up after a bit of polishing. still better than a glock trigger I think. I'm not dissing glocks... I have several and like them too but I despite the hinged trigger, I actually like them better.

I almost like stock Glock gen3 triggers. Pretty much hate the hinged M&P triggers.
I visit San Diego regularly and a couple weeks ago I visited Lenny McGill's Glockstore. Great store for all things Glock. Staff let me run a box of 9 thru 3 of their custom G17s. Pretty sweet shooting... I've no idea what they cost, but all were easy to shoot, with sweet triggers, great sights, etc.
I was thinking about getting some custom slide work for my Pro9, but still on the fence. I have a G19 gen4 and its a good gun. My Shield has a much better trigger, but hard to fault the Glock. I shoot it really well.

you ever tried the apex glock trigger? kinda curious about that one. I've got a couple of the lone wolf UAT trigger shoes in a couple different glocks. they're pretty good. had to tune the trigger bar a bit though so it didn't defeat the striker block. that's one thing you have to watch out for with some of the aftermarket glock triggers.

Well, being that Randy ruined me, you guessed it... I do have th Apex flat trigger kit with plunger and springs in my G19. I like it but its not as good as the M&P work, mainly because Glock's sear system isn't replaced in the kit. I think S&W's sear system is superior and with Apex tuning ends up being much nicer. The Glock is still a little mushy. I think its better than a polished stock gen3 trigger.
I was thinking about a KEV trigger system but they're around $250...

yeah, they can get pretty good but Glock can never be an apex'd M&P just simply because of the parameters you have to stay in. the thing that bugs me most is the resting angle of a cocked glock and thats what the flatty's seem to overcome pretty well.

The Glocks don't feels as good to me as M&Ps but I shoot them well so I find it hard to knock them. The glaring issues with the M&Ps are the hinged trigger and ****** sear. Stock vs Glock, the Glock would be my choice. But thankfully Apex cures both and I think the pistol is far better than any other striker pistol.
A friend recently told me how impressed he is with the PPQ...

Anybody ever seen an Apex M&P? I mean a gun actually worked on there. I prefer my Burwell gun to any of the parts baggie guns I have seen. Seems a gun with Apex parts installed by the designer should be fabulous.
